Negative experience: The studio is absolutely beautiful the Spanish decor is well done.let me clear this critique is to help this business be aware of something they may not be aware of this is constructive criticism…the reason I gave a two star rating is because this is not a beginners Spanish class like it was explained…this class is absolutely for people that have taken Spanish classes or a Spanish course before. It is definitely a refresher course not a beginner course. The instructor is kind, super friendly and welcoming but not hands on at all. I think the class could be more productive if they down sized the table in the classroom then the space would allow the instructor to walk around and be more hands with the student . When we realized the course was to advance we reach out to the studio but we never received a response back. Which I felt was unprofessional, but what can you do. Once again this is our story and I don’t want this review to discourage anyone from going to the Spanish studio. I just want people to be aware the classes are more advanced then what they were portrayed. I want to make sure I respond to your response. So let’s be clear and completely honest we did not miss several classes. We missed one class and after our fourth class, we did not return back because we realize it was too advanced and also when Michael emailed you about discussing a refund partial or full no you did not respond back to him! And I do not agree that missing one 2 hour class has that much effect on your learning when the studio emailed all of the homework that was required to be done and also what was studied and discussed in the class that we missed. I do feel that’s why it is very important to read things clearly and really understand before we react because obviously you did not understand a lot of things that I stated in my review because your response is not accurate and it is defensive and I’m sorry to say extremely unprofessional… but once again this review was not to cause any harm. It was to express that I feel your course is not a starter course. But it is absolutely amazing how people can dissect things and only receive the negative but none of the positive best wishes!

Fantastic experience: Alex is a great instructor and I was able to learn really useful skills in level 1. I signed up for level 2 and am looking forward to it! I highly recommend this program for learning Spanish.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed the 8-week class! Unfortunately timing doesn't allow me to attend the next one but I'll try to switch back to private lessons with Alex, which were also excellent.

The class is a great mix of self guided learning and Spanish practice and in class learning. You will get out of the class what you put into it. Fantastic experience: Alex is the best Spanish teacher in Chicago. It's important to me that he speaks English so well because I always have a lot of questions. I have had Spanish teachers in the past who did not speak English as well as Alex, and they were definitely not able to explain and teach all the details of the Spanish language as well as Alex does. He is also very warm, patient and funny, and the studio has a cool vibe. Chris, who runs the studio is also very friendly, very efficient and always answers emails and phone messages promptly. I have taken group and private lessons from Alex (and many studios before him), and I definitely recommend The Spanish Studio Language center to learn Spanish.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for a long time and since I started working with Alex at The Spanish Studio my Spanish has improved significantly. Alex is patient with me on the days I struggle and provides lots of opportunities to practice. I also found the lessons to be well planned overall.

Fantastic experience: REALLY enjoyed the 2 classes I took here (Spanish) and learned a lot. I intend to take more Spanish classes in the future and probably also some French classes.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking classes with Alex for the last year and it’s been a lot of fun! Alex is very personable and funny which helps the classes feel engaging and enjoyable, and you can tell he has a lot of experience teaching. The lessons also have a good variety of lectures, videos, partner activities which helps each class feel fresh. I think he does a good job of balancing more complex grammatical lessons with more practical everyday Spanish for early and intermediate speakers. I would recommend these classes for anybody who is feeling stuck with Duolingo and wanting to more seriously learn Spanish. The in person class environment also helped me to get over the anxiety of being a total beginner. Frankly, I wish I signed up sooner and I’m now eager to practice out in the real world. For what it’s worth, my girlfriend’s family from Colombia and Honduras have said they’re impressed with my progress, so thanks for that Alex, Chris and Frankie!

Fantastic experience: I wanted to get back into learning Spanish and didn’t know where to start. Alex is a great teacher and I enjoy every Sunday with him. The only thing I would suggest is if people had to test into the next level to make sure everyone is at the same skill set. I think it’s unfair to those who are ready to advance to have to be held back because others need more time to review basic grammar. Overall, I enjoy the class and I’m excited to continue.

Fantastic experience: It has been a real learning experience for my toddler to learn Spanish on-line with the language center. She is excelling and I am pleased with their curriculum and instructors.

Fantastic experience: I can highly recommend the Spanish Studio. The teacher Alex is very personable and makes sure that the classes are upbeat and fun. Chris who works at the front desk is very friendly and welcoming. I will always appreciate how the Spanish Studio kept its doors open during my time in Chicago and placed the student experience above all else.

Fantastic experience: Spanish Language Studio is an excellent place to learn Spanish in a fun environment which is practical and economical. It is difficult to learn a language from an on-line application that is why I went to the Spanish Language Studio because in person learning is the best. They even made it easy to learn remotely via zoom during the pandemic.

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for quality language education at an affordable price, this is your place! I have been taking Spanish classes at this studio for 3 years. I started with group classes, then switched to private lessons for the last 2 years. My comprehension capability, pronunciation, and grammar have improved beyond measure. I had very little recollection of Spanish from my grade school days, and it was important for me to learn not just repetition, but correct sentence structure and proficiency. My fiancé and his family are native Spanish speakers and have commented on my ability to hold conversations and understand cultural dialect (street lingo). Alex is a phenomenal instructor with all the patience, knowledge, and comedic relief one could hope for. Be sure to say hi to Chris on your way in for flexible scheduling, and excellent customer service. I highly recommend this learning studio!

Fantastic experience: I have taking private lessons with Alex for over one year already. He has been very patient with me, and works with me at my pace. They both are very accommodating with any class time changes due to my work schedule. I travel internationally on vacation twice a year, and we review the country and its customs before I leave, especially if it is a Spanish speaking country. It is very helpful. I highly recommend this center for language study.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking private & Group Spanish classes for about a little over a month now and I love Alex! Super fun & Nice. If you have concerns he listens to you and goes at your pace which is wonderful. Chris is also a sweetheart! Group classes are great because you get 8 classes for 2hrs each which makes you learn at a faster pace vs. private but, I also enjoy my private because you go at your own pace. Super glad I found the Spanish studio!

Fantastic experience: Alex and Chris foster a very welcoming learning environment that makes improving easy. Through Alex's teaching, I feel more confident in my Spanish and more able to push myself because it is such a judgment-free zone. In a short amount of time, my Spanish lessons have quickly become one of the things I look forward to most every week. My only regret is not starting sooner!

Fantastic experience: Awesome studio which offers great classes! The classes are affordable and fitted to individual’s Spanish (or other language) level. Alex is very passionate about teaching and always greats you with a smile!! Alex, Chris and Frankie (a beautiful dachshund) are super friendly and always ready to assist you. Ever since my friend and I started class in August 2020, I can see the difference in my Spanish (sometimes used at work). You get out of the classes as much as you put in - and Alex is always ready to answer any questions you might have.

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend! Alex is very adaptive to learning styles. I learn best by writing things down and Alex let me use his white board to plug through our lessons, even though I used up all of his marker ink. LoL. I opted for one on one lessons and it was worth every penny!! Chris was the BEST at scheduling my lesson times and when I needed to reschedule, they always accommodated me. Love them!!

Fantastic experience: Great school to learn Spanish! Alex is super good in helping you learn all the grammar in Spanish. And besides being a good teacher, the classes were a lot of fun! Chris is very friendly as well, and can always help you with anything you need. I took private lessons which gave me flexibility, every week I could choose what date / time I wanted for the class. And in case something came up, they were flexible in rescheduling. Definitely recommend it!

Fantastic experience: I have been attending classes at the Spanish Studio Language Center for about a year now. I am a healthcare provider and wanted to learn Spanish in order to connect more effectively with my patients. I am amazed at how quickly I gained proficiency with the language and how much it has helped me in my work. I have been taking private classes and classes have been tailored to my needs and the Center has been incredibly accommodating, which I've much appreciated. (Did I once call from the Emergency Room to say I wasn't coming to class like an hour later because I'd just broken my wrist? Yes, yes I did. They were super concerned and sweet, got me rescheduled no problem, and were excellent during my healing process as well. I've done so many of my OT home exercises during class while speaking Spanish!) It is also a lovely place to learn - after the high pressure of my doctorate program, coming to Spanish class and having coffee with Alex while learning is like a vacation. It is literally one of the highlights of my week. And as a bonus, I have been able to use my Spanish to start teaching my toddler Spanish as well!

Fantastic experience: I have been utilizing their private classes over a bit over a year now. They are extremely organized in terms of scheduling, and offer fair rates (and a great discount if you order classes in bulk-- which I would recommend). I have taken advantage of both their in-person and Skype classes. They are the only language classes out there that has taken advantage of this technology, which really makes life extremely convenient (especially after I moved further away from them). I genuinely feel as if I know the foundation of the Spanish language, and feel way more confident with my Spanish than I ever did with the computer program that I was using. Chris is extremely kind and friendly, and Alex is knowledgable and takes your time with you-- at your pace. This is really the only place you should consider for language learning!

Fantastic experience: Great staff, location, prices and flexible scheduling for private sessions. I've been taking Spanish lessons here for 3 months about 2 times a week and have enjoyed learning and building on my Spanish skills. I highly recommend anyone starting out fresh or with some Spanish experience to give the Spanish Studio a try.

My learning goals are to be able to speak in Spanish when I travel and to improve my vocabulary and grammar a little bit each class. Every class I have has is a wonderful learning experience, perfect for my level and abilities. Alex is a great teacher, who makes learning fun and interesting.
