Negative experience: Store was closed when I went today around 3:30PM. Calling did not go through. Emailed 2 weeks ago for french classes and never got back a response. Waited 10 mins and knocked the door as well, no response.Why bother keeping the store open at all? Will remove the review if I hear back.

Negative experience: Tried to get my money for classes (at a prorated rate) and was not able to. Laura I’d a great Italian instructor so this has nothing to do with her. First class I guess there was a discrepancy and the time was different from what I was told (I have texts). Second time instructor was late 40 minutes and I had to leave because I had to go to work. Very disorganized, but instructor is great. I was also told (according to Jacque) in an email that classes were cancelled for one date - they never were and I have proof (only study materials, not an addendum stating classes were cancelled). I drove to studio and no one was there. I texted Jacque with no response - I emailed him with a response stating he said in the email there was no class. If there are going to be lies at least don’t have them in an email or text. If Laura had her own classes I would go, but I would not go through this academy.

Fantastic experience: It's been a fantastic experience learning French at JILA for the past 5 weeks. I studied French in high school and didn't speak it for about 15 years and wanted to get back into it. Jacques' methodology for teaching had me speaking with confidence in a very short amount of time and now I am able to have basic conversations in French again. I sincerely appreciate his friendly demeanor, clear and direct instruction and focus on the basic functional aspects of language such as pronunciation and grammar. His style also makes me want to learn French on my own time. Fantastic experience: I really enjoy taking Spanish classes here! Gerardo is my teacher, and he is very personable and knowledgeable. I spent years learning Spanish in school, where we focused mainly on really complicated grammar, and not much stuck from that experience. Gerardo's main goal is to teach his students how to have everyday conversations in Spanish, and that has been much more useful to me.

Fantastic experience: Gerardo is an amazing Spanish teacher! He is super calm, conversational, and makes students feel comfortable asking questions. He meets students where they're at and adjusts classes based on our level of skill. It's important to me to have a native speaker as a teacher; he's someone who can tell you not only what is technically correct but what is going to be colloquial/the most natural sounding. He gives individualized homework if you want it as well. I recommend him highly!

Classes are focused on communication and getting students to speaking ability as soon as possible; additionally, part of the learning experience at JILA is the opportunity to practice conversation once a week in a small group setting. All the corrections were done without additional charges. Fantastic experience: I have only been taking classes for about a month but have already seen a lot of growth in my French language skills. I really enjoy the format of the lessons and Jacques' teaching style.

Negative experience: WORSTTT TRANSLATION SERVICE EVER. I am very desapointed because they rejected my application because he made an error on the first line of the translated document, and now I have resubmit and pay some fees again. Instead of writing BIRTH CERTIFICATE, he wrote BIRTH CETIFICATE. What a waste of time, he didn't apologize, and he claimed that he can't refund the money I pay to get my document translated. Plus, on the translated document, he didn't write all of his information, he just sign and date which is rediculus. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS TYPE OF SERVICE, just a waist of money and time. I which I can give 0 star.

I purchased a Groupon for a French class, and I plan to continue even after. Monsieur Jacque is an excellent and very approachable professor. His goal is to make you speak French in 3 months! Fantastic experience: I have taken 4 sessions so far at Jacques International Language Academy with my Spanish teacher Juan Carlos and will continue after Christmas. Starting as a complete beginner in Spanish, these classes have made my learning experience absolutely incredible! Previous to taking classes at JILA, I tried practicing on my own using resources like Duolingo and Spanish for Dummies, which gave me a nice start but are not 100% accurate and not nearly as educational as an actual class. Don't get me wrong, Duolingo really helped me improve my vocabulary and l learned tons of words but what is the point of knowing different words if I am not able to properly connect them and form sentences to communicate. That is why I think a formal learning is more important and less time consuming than self teaching.The instructors at JILA are all so friendly and extremely helpful - if you are struggling to understand something or have any questions they are always there and willing to help you. Because they are all native Spanish speakers, they teach you things that are very useful and can correct pronunciation, teach you slangs and so on. Juan also recommends certain books and movies I can read and watch (with subtitles) so I can improve my Spanish more quickly. I must admit that has really helped and I have noticed major improvement on myself. Though I am taking Spanish language class the school also offers other languages such as French, Russian, and several other languages. Furthermore, the prices are very competitive with other language schools in the city. Honestly, I genuinely enjoy coming to class every week and wouldn't recommend any other place.

I started learning French here in November and by now I have a good understanding of the language...just to add before these classes I had no exposure to French language and it was a totally naive idea. The best part about learning French here is that Jacques is very understanding and accommodating for the classes,making it easy and accessible for anyone working any kind of schedule. Graduate Youbode took every opportunity to speak the French he had acquired, conversing very much in French even after the ceremony. Youbode spoke of Founder/Owner Jacques Sarr as a mentor. One of Jacques International Language Academy's instructors, who teaches Arabic, also wrote at least two textbooks. Jacques Sarr speaks nine languages. His enthusiasm about languages is infectious among students, visitors, and his friends alike.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking Japanese lessons with Fuwa Sensei for a couple of months now and I can say that even when compared with my university professors, he's one of the best teachers I've had. His grasp of both English and Japanese grammar allows him to explain some of the more difficult linguistic differences between Japanese and English. Plus, he's very flexible with our lessons. One week we may focus on reading comprehension, the next on grammar and another on a JLPT study guide. All this to say, I am highly satisfied with my experience!

Fantastic experience: Ahlan wa sahlan! My experience at Jacques International Language Academy was great! I am currently enrolled at DeVry University, working part time, and actively seeking guidance maintaining Bible study approximately four times a week. My schedule is very busy, as well as changing consistently; learning Arabic with Professor Ali has been smooth sailing! We met twice a week, very flexible, working with my schedule. A couple occasions I ran late on time, I was able to reschedule thirty minutes to one hour later. Recommended personally by a friend I came to like and follow the school’s page on FaceBook. Noticing the evens that were being held by the organization, I made my way to one. Coming in to see what the school was about I was well informed, signing up for more information immediately. That same day the owner reached out to me working out a plan for payment. Understanding that I am a student, the owner was patience with me in regards of payment. Overall a good experience, looking forward to learning more Arabic in the future!

Fantastic experience: After I started taking lessons to learn French, discover Jacques International Language Academy and took several lessons with them. The lessons were always very thorough and helped me to greatly improve my confidence and competence in speaking French. I would say that Jacques International Learning Academy is for sure a great place to learn French but that it also has teachers that are committed and dedicated to the success of their students. I plan to take more classes with them in the future.

Fantastic experience: Jacques International Language Academy is a jewel in the Rogers Park neighborhood as well as the surrounding suburbs like Evanston, Skokie, Niles etc. There is convenient public transportation to JILA. But the real gem is the languages that be learned and practiced there. The fees are very reasonable and casual, affirming learning environment is top notch and you will literally mingle with all sorts of people in different professions and from all parts of the world! In particular, I am continuing my study of the French language and would recommend JILA for any of the eight languages taught here! L'ecole est excellente!

Two, he is creative and his methods are effective, applying real-life situations into the language. Having sessions with him helped improve my writing skills in French. I recommend anyone to take a language course at this institute if you're looking for an effective learning experience at a reasonable price. They have qualified teachers in other languages as well. :)

Fantastic experience: Jacques dedicates an extraordinary amount of energy and his excellent skills as a linguist to offer to our community the possibility of learning and mastering a wide set of foreign languages, which he does via organized language classes and conversation meetups. Jacques has been doing this for a very long time. I have participated in many of these events and, just like all other guests, feel happy and grateful that these events exist.
