Language Systems International is an accredited language school located in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles, established in 1987. We specialize in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and offer test preparation programs such as TOEFL iBT®. The teachers are very patient and they always help the students understand the lessons. The classes are interesting and we practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing every day. 2 months ago Negative experience: Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this academy. Most of the staff were kind and professional, but my interactions with a manager were uncomfortable for me. Some activities felt mandatory rather than optional, and when I hesitated or didn’t feel comfortable participating, I personally felt her responses were dismissive and somewhat sarcastic. This was my individual experience, and others may feel differently, but it affected my overall impression of the academy. + As a paying student, I am a customer. Unfortunately, it seems that the school has forgotten this. The curriculum was changed without any prior notice or discussion, and students were informed only one day in advance. This left us with no time to prepare or respond to the change.

These activities are optional, but they are designed to support your learning and help build community.
If you ever feel uncomfortable or prefer not to participate, we ask that you speak with us directly so we can address your concerns and support you. We do care about our students’ experiences and are always willing to listen and help.
Regarding the classes, this is sometimes done to best meet all students’ needs and immigration rules for F-1 students. If you’re not comfortable, you can speak directly with the program coordinator to be placed in the class that best fits your needs. :)

8 months ago Negative experience: This school seriously mishandled my visa situation. They failed to provide me with critical information and even cancelled my I-20 without notifying me, which led to my visa being denied. When I reached out for support—specifically requesting a letter to include in my motion—they refused to help. Communication was consistently slow whenever I needed updates to my I-20, and the front desk staff seemed completely unaware of visa processes or how to assist international students. Thankfully, I was eventually able to resolve my visa issues on my own, but based on my experience, I would not recommend this school to others.

You requested only the Acceptance Letter, I-20 Form, and SEVIS fee payment from LSI. At the time, you handled your Change of Status process directly with USCIS or through a third party not affiliated with the school.
We provided all required documents promptly, including the updated I-20 with your requested start date. As stated, such requests are processed within 1–5 business days, and any last-minute submissions are beyond our control.
While we understand that visa processes can be complex, LSI cannot be held responsible for matters outside our part of the process. We’re always here to help, and our manager would be happy to discuss this further with you!

The environment is supportive, friendly, and truly focused on helping students improve their English skills in practical, engaging ways. Caroline is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. 1 year ago Fantastic experience: I’ve been studying in the TOEFL class here for almost 6 months, and I’ve learned so much during that time. I recently took the TOEFL test and scored 101 out of 120! The classes are really engaging, and the school offers tons of fun activities throughout the year. Overall, I 100% recommend this place if you want to learn English from great teachers.

Oh anyway, I want to say again that the manager’s attitude toward me was the worst I've ever experienced even it was over the phone. I hope the manager has replaced to a better person for your business.

Cheguei na escola não sabia absolutamente nada de inglês e a metodologia aos poucos vem me ajudando apreender o inglês .. eu de verdade super indico a escola porque está mudando minha vida e me fazendo realizar um sonho de apreender falar inglês e gostaria de dividir isso com mais pessoas .. sou aluna nova que fiz uma experiência de 3 meses para ver se gostaria da escola e agora irei pagar para ficar esse ano inteiro porque acredito na metodologia e claro amando ter pessoas falando português para me auxiliar em tudo .. You can’t go wrong with here if you’re willing to be exposed under the risks, uncertainties, and unprofessionalism. DISCLAIMER: This opinion represents only my personal experience of having previously visited LSI's offices here. With specific dates and time. And creating comments that can be viewed by the public based on real events and processes that existed at the time does not mean that what I personally encountered will happen to the future or to others.

3 years ago Negative experience: The office manager Gerardo has refused to reprint/provide my husband's former I-20 which I'm pretty sure is illegal. Beware if you plan on studying here, this is what you will deal with.

As we explained to you, unfortunately, we can't provide an original I-20
again because it is not available on the USCIS website anymore. That's why when a student gets an original I-20, we always advise keeping this document.

4 years ago Positive experience: 2019年的时候，这个学校拥有很多好的老师和前台管理团队。但疫情后，他们的老师人数骤减，师资状况担忧，教学质量剧降。最搞笑是前台经理管理团队，经理lazy然后服务人员不专业。第一，他们出I20可以把我的生日写错，导致我去换护照时政府部门以为我造假；第二，我还有8周的课程没完成，当时是休假回去中国，后来遇到疫情的不可抗力2020年不能回校上课。当我在2022年2月28日入学时，前台讲中文的工作人员完全没告诉我任何关于我学费的信息，说我可以先上一个月课，叫我上完冬季再重新选择课程，最后我选择了早上的课程。当我提出转校时，他们居然说我这5个星期是学校免费送给我的，你觉得私立学校会有这样的好事情？第三，由于他们不专业嫌麻烦造成信息的不对称，我需要他们提供详细数据时，现在告诉之前剩下8周的下午课程不够抵现在已经上了5周的早上课。所以我入学申请交的700块，除去手续费剩余的100块也不能退，他们以这个理由拒绝了我的退款申请。 最重要的是，那个中文工作人员说知道我很在乎钱所以之前没告诉我这些信息。（我从来没提过钱，她怎么确定我在乎钱？）8周课程换5周课程我认可，100块不退你解释不合理。我肯定在乎钱，每个人都在乎钱，但我更在乎逻辑，合理解释和合法性，她居然说不存在不可抗力这一条！他们的态度实在令人感到无语。学校不差，但里面的工作人员会降低你对学校的认可，特别以为你不懂英文就把你当文盲，他们只是为了賺钱，其他服务？至少目前这个前台管理团队经理并不在乎。

Language Systems has always striven to maintain excellent customer service as I'm sure you've noticed during the past 3 years of study you've had with us. As such, we are surprised by this review considering your prolongued time with us. Our faculty and staff are always ready to provide positive feedback and reinforcement, though at times we are obligated to provide students with unpleasant news such as poor grades, poor attendance, and failure to meet other class obligations. Although it is understandable for people to not accept such news, this would not be considered a reflection of poor customer service standards by our staff. In fact, such news would provide students with the opportunity to show improvement in difficult classes and ultimately have a path to success!
5 years ago Fantastic experience: I was desperate as I had tried an academic English institute to get the score I want in the TOEFL iBT test but I couldn’t achieve any progress, until I was advised by my friend to get enrolled in the TOEFL course offered by LSI. I listened to her advice and it was a miracle. Within 6 months, I found my self achieving better results and I was really amazed with the excessive amount of TOEFL practice they provide everyday in classes. Really they made TOEFL exam a piece of cake to me. Thank you LSI

6 years ago Fantastic experience: Kurt, the TOEFL teacher at the time I was preparing for the test, helped me achieve my target score. My target score was to get more than a 100 at the beginning of the class. With the help from him for one and a half month, I could manage myself to get the score even more than my target. All the staffs here are pretty nice. The place looks clean and well organized. I would recommend this place.

Hola Miriam, la inscripción no tiene devolución, eso te lo informamos antes de inscribirte y lo firmaste en la aplicación de la escuela. Todas las políticas de la escuela te las hicimos saber antes de inscribirte y te las explicamos en Español. Lamentamos mucho que no hayas asistido a clases, ni intentado asistir a pesar de todos los esfuerzos que hicimos para que vinieras a clases. No estamos de acuerdo con el review que dejas de 1 sola estrella ya que las clases nunca las tomaste y fuiste informada de todas las políticas de la escuela.
