Fantastic experience: Professor Yermian is a wonderful human being, as well as a sensitive and highly intellectually educated Professor. I entered her French 001 class at LAVC with schedule conflicts, angry professors, and an unfortunate experience in another French class, and Professor Yermian made me feel calm and welcome enough to step outside of my anxiety so I could participate and learn at my own pace, even though scheduling conflicts interrupted my study and learning flow. Professor Yermian keeps reminding me I am a valuable person, and when I feel down about my retention ability, she takes time to encourage me. I will miss Professor Yermian's class so much. Meeting with her is one of the only positive weekly experiences I have to look forward to.

Fantastic experience: The French classes we have taken at LAVC have been wonderful! Professor Yermian is a delight. She is such a great teacher and very patient. We met at ESA Paris trip and have been delighted to be in her zoom classes for French 1 and French 2. Thanks!

Fantastic experience: I took French 1 in the evening with professor Yermian and loved the experience. I was looking for a new challenge like learning a new language and I got so much more from this class. Everyone was super friendly. Professor Yermian was very interactive with everyone and challenging each person to succeed. Movie days are offered as well as a day at the museum to practice the adjectives and verbs learned. The class was tough material but there wasn't heavy homework which helped when I had to work late. Your grade is all dependent on your desire to learn and practice. Attending class and participating in class was the best practice. I'm excited for next year to continue this journey with French 2 and then travel to Paris with others in the French program. The opportunity to travel to Paris and live there for a month as a student I didn't think was possible for me since I've already completed my bachelor's but with LAVC I've been given the opportunity post grad. =D

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful Professor Jacklin Yermian is. Professor Yermian has an absolute talent to absorb your attention to the French language / culture subject, with her charisma she makes the class study the French in the most excellent and inspiring way. Fantastic experience: I have taken French courses at LAVC with Dr. Miyasaki and Madame Jacklin Yermian. Both are amazing professors and very passionate about teaching French which made learning it fun and interesting (even virtually). They take pride in their students excelling in the language and encourage student success by motivating and instilling confidence while also making themselves available for additional support as needed. Whether online or in-person, I would highly recommend studying French at LAVC.

Fantastic experience: I had a great time learning French with Professor Yermian. The online classes made it easy to attend consistently even with a busy schedule. It was hard work and a serious commitment but the class was exciting, engaging and entertaining. I looked forward to each class. The live interaction with the other students created a camaraderie and social support amongst a diverse group of students of all ages. Mme Yermian inspired, challenged and empowered me to learn the fundamentals of the language and the culture, which came in very handy on my recent trip to France. I will continue to take classes at LAVC, especially with Mme Yermian and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in expanding their minds and developing their linguistic abilities.

I have taken classes with both Dr. Miyasaki and Mme Yermian, and both are very effective instructors; they are happy to give extra help when needed. In addition, the complementary textbook is very well organized and covers all the basics. I highly recommend this program!

Fantastic experience: When I wanted to rebuild my French language skills, I enrolled in conversation and grammar classes at Valley College. Over the past three years I've attended classes with Dr. Miyasaki and Ms. Yermian which were not only great learning experiences, but also very enjoyable and stimulating.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience of learning French with Prof. Yermian, especially online. She emphasizes helping all students understanding the material. I had to move to the San Francisco Bay Area shortly after the semester started, and being online made it possible to continue the course. I'd highly recommend the French Department, especially Mme Yermian.

The francophone lovers community at Valley really cares for linguistic growth. I have loved being able to have a French club via zoom where everyone really tries to help each other learn the language. Shout out to Professor Yermian who made zoom night classes fun and engaging!

Fantastic experience: I took French 1, 2, and 3 with Professor Yermian, and it was truly some of the best and most enriching experiences I had at community college! The classes are made to help you learn, and there is an established community in the classroom that makes learning more fun and comfortable. By the end of taking these courses, I was able to write and read in French to a level that I was very proud of! Also, if you are planning to transfer to a four-year university, this helps a lot with the foreign language requirement!

Fantastic experience: The best moments I had in my time at Valley college were in Madame Yermian's French classes. I took her class for French 1,2, and 3 as well as that I was in her Valley College French club and it was truly a great experience in my journey of learning the French language and culture. She's an amazing person that loves to teach and always makes it fun for her students.

Fantastic experience: LOVE LOVE LOVE my French courses here, especially online!!! Mme.Yermian is my absolute favorite French teacher and I had 5 other French professors over the years. My parents and friends had language classes with Mister Vik (Vic) and all three really enjoyed his classes too. P.S.: Please keep on offering online language classes so I can make it happen while I work!
