Fantastic experience: I loved refreshing my Spanish 1 skills with Soney out of Fluent City DC. Soney was so helpful and encouraging, and made classes relevant and engaging!

Negative experience: I signed up for private lessons and I enjoyed my instructor, but I decided to temporarily cancel due to the fact it is my summer vacation and I want to enjoy it before picking up lessons again in the fall. I was still charged for another month of lessons despite cancelling by the set date for the auto renew. After politely requesting a refund, their office told me that wouldn't be happening and I could defer my lessons for up to 3 months. Because I'm not exactly sure when I would want to use my lessons again that'd fit with my schedule, because I am a teacher myself and the return to school is always chaotic, this wasn't an option for me. I wanted my money back. They were steadfast about not giving me back my money, despite canceling on time. I'm currently dealing with this through my credit card company to get my money back, which is incredibly sad and frustrating they couldn't simply give me back what isn't theirs. You all really lost a long-term customer over a one month auto renew of private lessons - hundreds of dollars y'all could've gotten over months of me using your services - just so you could get $180 out of me. I genuinely hope it was worth it!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Fluent City. I wanted to try learning Hebrew and signed up during lockdown for an online class. They didn't have enough people and one on one tutoring was suggested to me. It did cost a little bit more, of course, but I decided to try a four hour per month plan and liked the individual attention and ended up staying with it for six months. I'm currently taking a break from lessons - to give my mind a rest; to take care of other priorities - but do plan on returning to this at some point. My huge thanks to Fluent City and my fantastic Hebrew tutor Ronit.

Fantastic experience: I took my 2nd class at Fluent City this past summer. I studied Italian here years ago and returned for remote Mandarin 1 classes with Jiayan. It's a great value for what you get and would highly recommend FC to anyone looking for a language school in NYC, and I would recommend Jiayan for Mandarin! A+!

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my first Spanish class greatly at Fluent City. My instructor, Eliana, was an engaging and effective instructor who really helped guide us through the foundations needed to continue toward the goal of fluency. Solitary study is definitely needed outside of classes, but the two hours of in-person practice was extremely valuable and enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: I took this class to strengthen my Spanish when I started practicing criminal defense in the Bronx. I must say that this is definitely the best Spanish class I’ve ever taken. Victor takes his time, he breaks things down, and always relates everything we learn to real life situations. I also love the fact he teaches us the differences from country to country. He does all this and still manages to keep it fun and make the class laugh. It’s also very clear that Victor is an expert at what he teaches which is really admirable. I genuinely feel myself getting stronger. Highly recommend taking Spanish @ Fluent City with him — I look forward to coming back for the next level!

Fantastic experience: Initially I was a little hesitant to sign up for a spanish class as I had poor experiences during my time "learning" in college and high school, but I am so HAPPY that I took the leap. It was one of the best investments I made for myself in 2019 (and soon to be in 2020 when I start Spanish Level 2). My instructor - professor - teacher, Victor was incredible! He really made learning spanish fun and enjoyable! Beyond the information provided in the coursebook he shared with us the origin of how phrases and words came about as commonplace in different spanish speaking countries, and also what words and phrases to use to be culturally relevant in different spanish speaking communities. Much appreciated. Looking forward to Spanish 2! If your'e on the fence of whether to take a class...Just do it! You'll find a community among other classmates and the professor.

Fantastic experience: Claire is wonderful, will enroll in the next French level with her!

Positive experience: Claire Reid is a very sweet and patient teacher who is always open and approachable whenever I have a question. I feel in this class as though we were able to start speaking and applying our knowledge in practical, everyday situations more quickly, with plenty of opportunities to speak and practice in the class. The only negative comment is that the classroom space is very tight with little room to move during the two hour class, but I realize that is a common problem in Manhattan and that is the price to pay for the convenient location.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed the 10 week Spanish 2 course with Anna (NYC - Soho). It was a really great experience, and I feel like I learned a lot from it. The class was about 12 people at various levels but around the same place as me. The most beneficial part of the class i felt, was in getting us to speak and interact. This is what was missing from my book and app learning, and what made taking an in person course so helpful. The lessons were compact and fun, and the topics were relevant to what I needed to learn at this point. Anna was an amazing teacher, and always made us feel encouraged as well as entertained. She is very interactive, took some tangents from the book every class to relevant real-world topics, and made me want to keep learning. I also feel that her being not a native speaker but rather someone who studied to master the language is a huge benefit. She understands the learning process, what is a challenge to overcome, and ways to really grasp the topics. I will try to get her again for Spanish 3!

Fantastic experience: I took a Beginner German course at Fluent City and loved it. Marlen Lux was my instructor, and she was fantastic. Very informative, extremely patient, always ready to answer any questions, and simply a pleasure to be around. I would recommend her class to anyone willing to learn at any level.

She is really good at getting the whole class involved without intimidation. I am pleased with how much I have learned already, and I am excited to continue taking classes with her in the future!

Fantastic experience: After having studied German for 5 years about 13 years ago I wanted to get back to learning it. This wouldn't have been possible for me without the incredible Viktoria Zykina. Not only is she brilliant, but her classes are genuinely fun and interesting, never boring. Her German is literally impeccable and she has an awesome sense of humor! She makes learning easy because she's patient and beyond knowledgeable about not only German language but also German culture. I treasure my classes with her and hope to continue studying under her ! Fantastic experience: Can't recommend this school enough. The classes are much more social, interactive and friendly than other places I've taken Spanish and I feel like I'm making good strides. Added bonus: the Brooklyn location has killer views.

Fantastic experience: I look forward to Monday nights when I can go to Spanish class! I feel that I have learned a lot and have advanced in my fluency since starting. Our class is diverse and fun; it provides for a comfortable environment to practice and make mistakes. Our professor Elizabeth is a native Spanish speaker who is always able to answer our questions and provide information about the language rules. I am enjoying this class so much, and am already signed up for the next one!

Fantastic experience: The best language class I've ever had. The classes are spent learning correct pronunciation and in the process we learn sentence structure, grammar, spelling, but it starts with speaking. I find I'm automatically remembering most of the vocabulary this way without having to go home and memorize lists of words. My only complaint is with the book, which we have to buy for class at extra cost--it's not very useful and literally half the pages have already fallen out of the binding.

Positive experience: Fluent City is a great program for people who work and want to take a class in their free time. I am learning a lot, but no overwhelmed. The teacher , Manuela, is awesome & encourages the class to converse in Italian beyond the textbook material. The textbook needs improvement, as there is not a lot of defined vocabulary and I waste a lot of time looking up words when doing homework. It would also be helpful if they gave more vocabulary and verb conjugations in general. The classrooms are fine, but the seats are VERY uncomfortable to sit for two hours straight in. I would recommend the class to friends for sure.

Fantastic experience: Very engaging and personal language class; the online placement process makes it easy to find the right class. Our Spanish instructor Yeiner is cheerful and a great teacher, making always the class a highlight of the week.

Fantastic experience: I'm currently taking Chinese 3 taught by Minwei Cao and am absolutely loving it. Minwei is an amazing teacher. She focuses a lot on tones, which is crucial when you're trying to become a fluent speaker. She clearly breaks down every grammar lesson and includes a fun, cultural tidbit at the end of every class. I look forward to this class every week. Gaining more confidence in my speaking skills has brought me so much joy. I'm very excited for Chinese 4!

Fantastic experience: Great place to learn languages, will come back take next level class for sure!

Positive experience: The location for this class is pretty great- easy to get to, and awesome views! The classrooms are clean, but there are often technical issues with the display board: blurry images and difficult to navigate. Besides that, the lesson plans and quality of teaching are very good, and I look forward to going every week.

Fantastic experience: The classes have been both productive and enjoyable. Anna has been a great teacher, setting a causal and friendly atmosphere that enables us to feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy my classes at Fluent City! The class size is small and we get lots of attention & practice. There is a great mixture of conversation and grammar along with various fun activities (watching foreign films for homework, etc). Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I took Arabic 1 with Khaled and it was great. Each session was very informative, right pace and Khaled always ready to take time to answer questions and explain in details. I am definitely taking Arabic 2.

Positive experience: I really enjoyed the class! I had take Italian in the past, so I was familiar with the material. The teachers were fluent and helpful and the classes were fun to participate in. Note: The two hours in class are not enough to actually learn the material. This is basically a semester of Italian put into 10 classes, so be prepared to do some studying on your own in addition to the homework. (This is not a bad thing, but I think some people didn't expect to have to do outside work.)

Fantastic experience: I’ve run a global investment firm for 20 years and travelled the world, but never been a student of languages. Taking Italian was a real test, and in some ways, threat to me. The intro program at Fluent City has been amazing and a revelation, because, despite my time and distance from the class room and apprehension to trying something new, learning Italian has been both entertaining and easier than I expected. Obviously, for a language program, so much depends on the teacher, and Valentina Gandini has been as good a teacher as I can remember - very personable and organized, her lessons have had both structure and amusement. In short, she’s made it fun, which is probably why it’s been so conducive to learning. Without speaking for the rest of the class, it feels like a very engage group that is enjoying the experience. The Fluent City facility is state-of-art and a great location. I don’t write many reviews but feel this has been a very solid learning environment and would recommend to anyone wanting to learn a language, particularly Italian.

Negative experience: The student support is totally trash, email or phone calls both either no reply or take ages to respond. The class level is so messed up, I have been both the time square addresses on their website or google, both locations’ front desks said there are no fluent city locates there?

Fantastic experience: Richard Green and the FC Italian Easentials course materials, as well as the dialogues Richard moderates with the other classmates, are superb! I’m learning really quickly!

Fantastic experience: I’ve taken Spanish classes in the past, and Level 3 Spanish at Fluent City has been a fun and effective way to review grammar and practice speaking with my classmates. I wish it met more than once a week!

Fantastic experience: I have loved learning Spanish with Fluent City! It's an interactive experience and focuses on the learning tools that will make you conversational. I especially appreciate the teachers who are native speakers!

Negative experience: Horrible customer service. I have taken language courses elsewhere and never had this experience. First the class levels are not what they claim to be. The beginner is not beginner and you need a basic understanding to jump in. Then if you want to make a change to your class, good luck. The customer service phone number has no live agent, only a voice mail. The email help desk, doesn't follow thru. They take your money and if after one class things aren't right, they don't help make a change, they don't have to b/c of their refund policy ( no refunds 7 days prior to class starting) Bottom line, be careful here. Lousy customer service, class levels not clear and teachers very mixed.

Positive experience: Fluent City has classes that work with my schedule. It has been an awesome way to work toward my language goals without disrupting my regular life. I feel as though I am progressing at a steady pace and have been extremely happy with my investment. I do wish that their workbooks were a little more in depth. Without my instructor providing supplemental materials, I would not be learning as much as I have with their workbooks alone.

Fantastic experience: I wholeheartedly love Fluent City for many reasons! My teacher leads with passion and energy, keeping the class engaged and fun. The customer service of the FC staff is kind, helpful, and genuine, making my signup and one-off requests a super positive experience. Fantastic experience: I, and a handful of my classmates, have taken Russian Levels 1, 2, and 3 with Polina Belimova at Fluent City. Fluent City is by far the best language school I've ever come across in my life. The classes are so intuitive and non-threatening. They are so much fun and I feel like I've learned so much. I'm learning Russian because my wife is Russian, and even after knowing her for 10 years, taking these classes has helped me feel so much closer to her and her family.

Fantastic experience: I like FluentCity because everybody is really nice and accommodating. I study Hebrew here, there weren't enough subscriptions for the last course I wanted to sign up to and they really went out of their way to make the class happen with the bare minimum of students. Thank you, FluentCity!

Fantastic experience: I took German classes at Fluent City for 3 months before moving to Berlin. Looking back, the lessons were invaluable. My move to Berlin was so much easier because I entered the country understanding basic German. Class was fun, our teacher David was great, and the other students were cool, interesting people. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Fluent City made me look forward to class each week. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn a new language or brush up on old skills.

Fantastic experience: I just completed my French Level 2 class with Sam Maher! I attended F.C's french workshop and from there I knew I had chosen the right school to continue practicing and learning French. The class was taught in French and although that sounds frightening it was actually really beneficial. Sam is a fabulous professor and is really passionate about the language and teaching it! I am so pleased with the class and the way that it was taught and will be signing up for French 3 soon! Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a new language or continue learning!

Fantastic experience: I recently concluded taking French 2 at Fluent City, taught by the very cool Sam Maher. If Sam is representative of the other teachers at Fluent City (I'll soon find out, as I wasted no time signing up for French 3 which begins tomorrow!), you would be foolish not to sign up with F.C. over their competitors. The class is in the popular immersion style; though Sam will of course take pity and speak a little English every now and again, when the entire class seems just lost, still virtually 90% of the class is conducted fully in French. This can be a daunting prospect, and I had my doubts going in, but Sam is a terrific teacher; his style is alternately chill and challenging - when you're in panic mode (you will be from time to time, trust me), he very calmly talks you down, and assures you that you're doing just fine. He does not do this, however, at the expense of moving the class forward; you leave every class knowing far more than you did the previous. You need to bring a genuine commitment and desire to learn to the class; do that, and Sam will help you from there!

Positive experience: A great Italian class for the money. They have convenient hours and classes open every few months so it's easy to find something that works for you. Sign up for their newsletter because they sometimes offer discounts, especially in the summer!

Fantastic experience: The absolute best! J'adore Sam, my incredible French teacher. I have worked with him for years. Highly recommended!
