Fantastic experience: Hola, I am Jeff and I'm a student attending the language school to learn Spanish. I'm a US born citizen who only speaks English, but with the changing dynamics of Colorado and the USA I wanted to learn Spanish for long a time to help with my work profession and for enjoyment. I have successfully completed level one Spanish with the help of Profe David Stevens and his assistant Julieta. While I am still learning and growing on my journey to learn Spanish, I am glad to be attending the language school. I have found Profe David to be very professional and as my instructor he has helped me in learning to speak and understand Spanish. They are very patient and always willing to help all the students. They asks if we have questions, and are always ready to explain things and answer our questions. The rates are reasonable and affordable too! I plan to continue attending the language school as long as Profe David and assistant Ms. Julieta continue to teach there, and until I have the confidence that I can hold my own communicating in Spanish if I were out on the town, or traveling abroad. Negative experience: Update (2025): I just recently saw the school’s response to my original 2019 review, and I feel the need to respond — now that my English is strong enough to do so clearly and directly. Yes, I confused the teacher’s name — it was David, not Steve — but everything else I wrote was and remains absolutely true. Back then, I was a newly arrived immigrant, stressed and doing my best to adjust and improve my English. I clearly said I wanted a conversation class to work on speaking and pronunciation. Instead of telling me honestly that such a class didn’t exist at my level, the school simply placed me into a grammar-focused class that didn’t match my goals — and took my money anyway. When I politely explained that the class wasn’t working for me, I was met with rude and unprofessional behavior, including emotional accusations and blame. Even my husband, a native English speaker, tried to intervene and was treated disrespectfully. Now the school responds years later claiming I didn’t “follow their instructions.” This is a classic excuse used when schools take advantage of vulnerable immigrants — those who are new, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to push back. They don’t listen, they just sell you whatever class they have, whether it meets your needs or not. And if you speak up? They say it’s your fault for “not understanding.” This was without a doubt one of the worst experiences I’ve had in the United States. I’m thankful I later found a free public program with real professionals who respected my goals and helped me learn English quickly and with compassion. When I moved, I was looking for a language school. I chose this one because it has 5 stars on Google. Steve checked my level of language proficiency. I said that my goal is to practice conversational English. Something went wrong? Steve chose the class for me. But 80% of the time we did the exercises and only occasionally talked. Besides me, there were 4 Spanish-speaking students in the class. If they did not understand something, the teacher would explain to them in Spanish. (by the way, I don't speak Spanish). I decided to ask Steve to choose a different class for me that better suits my goals. To this Steve answered very rudely and said that I need to go to this class. Steve also said that I offended him a lot, because I don't like this lesson. I was very upset. But I thought that maybe Steve and I had a misunderstanding because of my imperfect English. I asked my husband (a native English speaker) to talk to Steve. Steve was also harsh with my husband and said that I was lying about the teacher and the class. I didn't want to go back to class where they called me a liar. I asked my husband to talk if we could use the $ 600 we already paid for other classes or activities at the school. But Steve turned us down. I lost $ 600. This is a large amount for my family. In addition, I was very upset and for a long time I was afraid to speak to people in English because of this incident. It happened in September 2019

Fantastic experience: My fiance from Korea went to David’s classes to learn English while he’s visiting me for 3 months. the classes are very small, with average 3 students per class. He really enjoyed his classes and learned alot. He also meet some great people at the school to share each others culture, which was another great opportunity. David is an amazing teacher and highly recommend! We would like to come back to take his classes again when he eventually move to the US in the near future!

Fantastic experience: Learning anything is a bit of a risk, to put oneself in a position of feeling like you don't know anything. Learning Spanish is difficult but David has the patience and the experience to lay it out--he says don't be hard on yourself for not learning at the pace you would maybe like, but he also shows how the process works and can demonstrate progress to you in a single class. What that class taught me was how to organize my efforts to learn Spanish. It's not easy but I see now how to apply myself and am excited to continue my work, knowing that nothing worth having is easy, but with some effort, it is possible.

Fantastic experience: It's been almost 2 months now that I've been following an English course, being French my oral comprehension of English was quite mediocre but since then I feel more at ease. Moreover the teacher David was always listening to my expectations and directed the course in this direction.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking Spanish classes with Professor David for the last month. The conversational teaching method he uses is so much more applicable than the Spanish I was taught in school. I’m learning Spanish because our family enjoys traveling to Costa Rica. Fantastic experience: Started about a month ago. After consultation signed up and started the very next week. I have learned the basics of starting a conversation and I am learning enough to feel comfortable. I would suggest getting a speaking buddy to have daily dialogue to advance faster. Signed up initially for ten sessions and just signed up for five more. I’m hoping to be able to use this second language in daily life and at work.

Fantastic experience: The Language school was the kick in the butt that I needed. It’s very hard to learn a language on your own (I lack discipline) Although things are online at the moment due to the pandemic I still feel I am learning at the same rate as in person. David is very helpful and is always prompt to answer any of my questions day or night. If you stick with this program it will stick with you. I cannot wait for in class learning to open back up ! Update: I am quite disappointed that the language school in person classes will not be opening back up. I have stopped my online classes

Fantastic experience: I have tried to learn Spanish on my own for a while now and I'd never progress to anything. I would get frustrated and end stopping for long periods of time. I went to Mexico and realized I needed to learn a lot more to have conversations. So I started this January in The Language School. It's been three months and I've noticed a big difference. It is the interaction with my teacher Pedro and practicing at home and in the neighborhood that has expanded my talking. I think the each week part helps.

Fantastic experience: I started by visiting the Friday Morning Conversation gatherings with Abby and really enjoyed the friendly and supportive atmosphere. I signed up for Spanish classes with Pedro. He is teacher who works with you to get your spelling, grammar and pronunciation correct. I am continuing with Pedro to improve my Spanish understanding. His teaching style and encouragement are motivating to the students.

It's not easy, and I have to do homework and study a few times a week, but it's finally sinking in. I even signed up for the next course. Pedro's a great and patient teacher. Fantastic experience: Been studying at TLS off and on for several years. It has always been very accommodating of my needs and my rather erratic schedule. I particularly enjoy the emphasis that is placed on cultural understandings. The school publishes its own books and uses them for the classes and they're a whole lot better than other books I've had to use, like back in high school. I wish I'd had the latest one (Let's Start Talking, by David Stevens, the owner and head teacher) when I started out. Very nice folks! And a comfortable environment. The widely traveled staff is easy for me to relate to. To sum up: it makes it fun!

Fantastic experience: I've been taking Spanish classes now for approximately three months and I absolutely love the staff at the school. Both David and Pedro are wonderful teachers and are very accommodating to my busy schedule. I work in the local construction industry where speaking Spanish is a must. Both instructors are very good at explaining the differences in construction/Denver Spanish and proper/conversational Spanish. I definitely feel I am getting the value from each and every class. I am very glad I chose this program over online classes or classes at another facility.

Since I began studying Spanish at the Language School, I can genuinely say that my confidence in my ability to speak Spanish properly has improved drastically. I tested into beginner 4/Intermediate 1 and I feel their assessment of my skill placed me into the perfect level to refresh my memory while still remaining a challenge. I am a huge fan of the small group/class structure. It necessitates more participation and the instructor has the ability to really help you with pronunciation and sentence structure. While I have only had a maximum of three other students in my class, the Language School limits class capacity to ensure the small class structure is guaranteed. I don't think it's possible for me to properly explain how fantastic Pedro, one of the instructors at the Language School, has been. I have not had any other instructor since I have been there but I am sure he exemplifies the instruction given at the Language School. His patience and understanding of knowing when to prompt a student is excellent. He is always willing to answer questions and has an expert understanding of Spanish and it's translation to English. I cannot thank him enough for the positive experience learning Spanish. Overall, I highly recommend the Language School to anyone looking to improve their Spanish.
