Fantastic experience: The best kids Spanish school in Austin, TX

Fantastic experience: I rarely take the time to give reviews, but I had to for Olas. Kindergarten is almost over. This school and the teachers here all have been such a blessing for my daughter and myself. The teachers are so loving, kind and patient. They treat the kids like they are their own children. They focus on the child’s learning style, each individually and as part of the group. I’m truly so grateful for having found this hidden gem. My only regret was not finding it sooner. My daughter has had a wonderful 2 years here and the best foundation for her lifelong learning journey.

Fantastic experience: This review is a long time coming… and by “a long time” I mean it has been 10 years since our family came to Olas. I rarely give reviews, but was moved to sit down and finally write one for Olas because they go above and beyond!! The principal and lead teacher, Mara Vidal, and her amazing teachers and staff are nothing short of miraculous! We have had all 3 of our children at Olas. From the minute each of our children stepped into the school, they were entranced. The teachers make all their students - and parents - feel like part of the Olas family. They create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that just draws kids in immediately, and which leads to a strong feeling of community for all involved. Mara has a background in children’s language education, as well as in music and theater - and it shows! Not only have our children come out with a strong and beautiful understanding of Spanish (and killer accents!), but they have had so much fun in the process. There truly is never a dull moment at Olas! I could go on forever… Truly, this is a remarkable place. We have never once regretted our decision to send our children here. Olas is a gem in our Austin community! Besos y abrazos!

Fantastic experience: My niece has gone to this school as a PreK student and then for additional after school & summer time programs over the last 5 years. The director, Mara, has also taught her Spanish privately. Not only have her language abilities flourished with Olas's support, but also my niece truly values & connects with her Olas peers & teachers.

Fantastic experience: I don’t generally write a lot of reviews, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t commend the staff at Olas publicly! The school is absolutely incredible, and my wife and I feel so grateful we found it for our 2 year old son. He has been attending twice a week for about ten months, and we are astonished by how much he has learned in this short time. Each day he surprises us with new usage of the Spanish language…from numbers, to the alphabet, to colors, to days of the week, to fun songs which he adores singing. He gets so excited on the days he attends, which really warms our hearts, and on the days he doesn’t go, he talks about his teachers and friends there. I would give Olas 100 out of 100 stars if I could! Thanks so much for everything you all do, and we look forward to entrusting Olas with our son’s development for years to come!

Fantastic experience: With over 30 years of teaching experience, mainly with very young children, I am always amazed with the approach, techniques, and love the Director and all the teachers provide for all their students. I'm a native Spanish speaker myself and I'm convinced their natural, immersive, musical, and environmental way of teaching/learning and living Spanish, is the sure (and joyful) way to go!

Fantastic experience: I LOVE Olas. My son has been at this school for almost five years. This school is an Austin gem. The teachers have all been phenomenal. The new campus is wonderful, full of trees and flowers. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Our family has enjoyed such a wonderful experience at Olas for the last 2 years! After one meeting with Mara, we knew Olas would be the school for us due to the caring and attentive nature she displayed, along with the way she integrates time into the curriculum for the children to be outside vs. learn solely in the classroom. The results speak for themselves. Within one month of attending Olas native Spanish speaking family members commented on the improvement in our daughter’s Spanish. In addition, our daughter was flourishing, and asking to go to Olas every day. Our daughter has participated in summer camp the last 2 years, and we are very impressed with the comprehensive learning children experience about Latin American countries. History, culture, music, dance and so much more is built into the summer camp programs in a fun and festive way that reaches children of varying ages. Summer camp has been an absolute highlight of our time at Olas along with the quality and caring nature displayed by all the teachers. The environment at Olas is one of a family. It’s clear from the way the teachers interact with the children and the way our daughter speaks of the teachers how loved she feels every day she attends Olas. She has learned so much Spanish: reading, writing, math, science all packaged together with beautiful songs. I know our daughter will look back fondly on her time at Olas, though for now we will continue to attend special programs and summer camps making memories with our family at Olas. Highly recommend this amazing school!

Fantastic experience: I'm very pleased with Olas Spanish Immersion School, my little one started at this wonderful place one month ago and is learning a lot of Spanish already. He is always happy to go to school and sing the new songs that learn there. The teachers are very professional and very experienced. The school itself is very beautiful, well kept and looks very secured. I'm very happy to have found this place and recommend it to anyone that wants their kiddos to learn Spanish and have fun.

Fantastic experience: We couldn’t be more impressed with Olas! We have 2 children and both have been enrolled at Olas! My 3.5 year old has learned so much Spanish at Olas and loves going! She comes home from Olas with knowledge about the current season and all things related! She is comfortable using Spanish at home due to their teaching methods. She has also learned so many songs both traditional and new! I am so impressed with all she learns there every day! The teachers there are so loving and feel like family to us. I couldn’t have picked a better place to have my daughter!

Fantastic experience: OLAS has been an amazing home for all three of my children since they were very young! I appreciate the location, the building and campus and learning. My kids look forward to their maestras and the fun. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Updated in 2022: Our second daughter has been here since 18 months, and after 6 weeks she already speaks Spanish, sings songs, etc! Now when my children play with each other, their switch seamlessly between Vietnamese (their native language) and Spanish. Olas was a life-saver during the pandemic. We love the school! ----- Old review 3 years ago: Olas is awesome! The school is clean, teachers are always so cheerful and attentive. Our daughter enjoys speaking and reading in Spanish, she converse well with friends who are native speakers. The online resources provided by the school are also very helpful for us to keep up with her materials at home. I cannot wait to send our second daughter here!

Fantastic experience: Our family loves Olas! Our kids have been there forever and they have learned to speak, write and read Spanish well. The teachers are creative, supportive and happy and have done a great job of making us all feel welcome. In fact, we met a lot of our closest Austin parent friends here at Olas!

Fantastic experience: Olas Spanish has been wonderful to my son. He started learning Spanish with Mara when he was 4 years old. From the beginning, I was very impressed by the fast pace he was learning and how amazing Mara and the other teachers are. He is always very excited for his Spanish classes because Mara and all the other teachers always make learning fun. And I am very pleased because I know they make sure the students are building a very solid Spanish language knowledge. We love Olas Spanish! Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful, engaging summer camp experience my 7 year old had at Olas Spanish camp! A true Spanish immersion experience that bridged children of all Spanish language speaking abilities through exploration of culture, arts, games, song, dance, and fun! We are still being wowed by flamenco performances almost a year later. Instructors are very caring and the camp is well organized. Highly recommended!
