Our comment from StudyLanguages about LITA:

LITA offers an extraordinary Spanish language immersion program designed specifically for high school students. Many participants have shared their transformative experiences, highlighting the following key aspects:

  • Immersive Learning: Students engage in a culturally rich environment, experiencing Spain firsthand, which dramatically enhances their language skills.
  • Personalized Homestays: The program is renowned for its meticulous matching of students with thoughtfully selected host families, fostering lasting bonds and deep cultural connections.
  • Supportive Community: LITA cultivates an intimate group experience, where participants form friendships that endure beyond the program, often referring to each other as family.
  • Comprehensive Itinerary: Travelers partake in a variety of activities, from cultural excursions to internships, all designed to enrich their understanding of Spanish culture.
  • Exceptional Leadership: Jordan and Michela, the program's directors, are noted for their genuine care, focusing on each student's unique needs to cultivate a supportive learning atmosphere.

While the overwhelming feedback has been positive, a few participants noted the initial adjustment to total immersion in Spanish could be challenging. However, this challenge is often viewed as an integral part of the personal growth that comes with the experience. In summary, LITA is highly recommended for any student eager to embrace the Spanish language and culture in a safe, structured, and enriching environment.

Fantastic experience: Amazing program for high school students who want to deepen their Spanish and have a deeply meaningful program. LITA is run by top notch educators who take tons of care to make sure students are matched with excellent host families and internships (or classes). All the the thoughtful groundwork helped the students bond with one another, and really understand Spanish culture. Truly a gem and the intentionality and framework make each day so special, and this is truly a standout program. So thankful we found it!

Fantastic experience: We love LITA! We saw such an improvement in our 15 yo's Spanish language skills; it was amazing how 5 weeks of full immersion really pulled together his understanding of the language in a way that 4 years of classes hadn't been able to do yet, even as an A student. Our favorite aspect was the homestay. The family he was placed with was so kind and welcoming from the moment he arrived, and they really went out of their way to make him feel truly at home. The program director and leads went above and beyond to find a family with similar interests so he was comfortable. They were also very involved and did an amazing job keeping us updated with daily pictures (which put my mama heart at ease!) I would recommend LITA for any student who is eager and enthusiastic about full Spanish language and cultural immersion.

Fantastic experience: My older daughter competed the 5-week program in southern Spain last year. She had a wonderful time. Jordan and Maricela did an extraordinary amount of research to find the perfect host family for her. They couldn't have found a better family. The warm parents had a home on an olive farm at the edge of town, children my daughter's age, a whole range of fun pets, and little cousins next door. The family brought my daughter on a number of day trips and weekend trips. My daughter loved the programs guides, enjoyed the morning classes, and learned an enormous amount of Spanish along the way. LITA really over-delivers.

Fantastic experience: My daughter learned so much during her 5 week program with Lita. The first week was truly bonding for the group and total immersion. This week of travel was followed by a three week homestay with a wonderful family. The last week was travelling again. The thoughtful program was organized so her language skills truly improved while having a great time getting to know Spain. Gracias Lita!

Fantastic experience: The LITA experience is superbly designed for the high school student who is serious about learning Spanish. It was exactly what we were looking for: a small group, well looked after, in rural Spain (as opposed to a big city). The name, LITA, as explained by the director, reflects their approach, which is to keep it small and personal & in a small town where the students can genuinely explore the culture. My child came home with a greatly improved ability to speak and understand the language. He grew up a lot during the experience & gained confidence and independence. He also had a fabulous time with the tight-knit group of like-minded students, as well as his host family. As a parent, I was pleased with the wonderful group leaders, the communication overall, how the director set expectations, and the commitment by all to speak 100% Spanish. My favorite thing was when my son shared his project which he presented at the end, and I could see what a positive and meaningful experience it was for him.

Fantastic experience: This summer our son attended a three week program in the Southern Spain. We were blown away with LITA and the whole experience. We learned about the program from my son’s friend who attended the year before, so we had high expectations. When we reached out for more detail, the program director scheduled a one hour long call with us to walk us through the program’s vision and approach. He and his team stayed involved from that moment on: communications were clear and helpful, the program was exceptionally well thought out, and I was very impressed by level of attention and the mix of activities (all in Spanish!). And homestay was such a great part of the experience. I heard from my son that the group got along really well and he came back really happy and feeling accomplished (his Spanish has improved and he was spending a few days with us in Madrid at the end showing off how much he learned about food and culture). Very well run program. Great team. Very happy we signed up!

Fantastic experience: Our 17 year old daughter participated in a five week LITA program in Northern Spain and had a life-changing experience. She especially enjoyed the cultural field trips, and the glimpses into the history of rural life in Spain. From music to cuisine to food, she experienced a little bit of many different parts of Spanish culture. Her confidence in her Spanish language skills grew with her confidence in meeting new and different people, and learning in new environments. She was challenged, but always felt supported and safe. This is a fantastic program!

Fantastic experience: The entire Lita program exceeded our expectations, which were quite high to begin with. Our son's linguistic abilities increased dramatically, his homestay family will be friends for life, and program leaders were responsive, compassionate, and communicative when we had an unexpected emergency on the homefront.

Fantastic experience: Our teen child attended LITA for the first time this summer, doing a 5 week program with an internship. She is very enthusiastic about Spanish, and had a wonderful time. As parents, our experience was exceptional - lots of pictures, easy to follow the kids' activities. Our child is LGBTQ+, and we wanted to be sure they would be safe and comfortable. We worked with Jordan and the team to make sure all the issues were covered, and that the home stay family and her campmates would be comfortable. It worked out as well as we could have hoped or wished. Jordan and team could not have been more caring and thoughtful about their special needs and in general. I think I said to our child about a dozen times as we worked out the details, "Jordan is really a good and caring person." I would recommend the program without reservation.

Fantastic experience: My son did the LITA program in southern Spain the summer prior to his sophomore year in high school. The program wildly exceeded our expectations! He came home and reported that he had the best summer of his life. He bonded deeply with his family in the homestay community, and he has a new and heartening appreciation that language mastery allows him to make strong connections with people and cultures he otherwise wouldn't be able to. He also made lifelong friendships with several of the American students he traveled with. The itinerary documentation from LITA was very thorough and provided sufficient detail to really understand what the students would be doing and when. Hardly a day went by when there wasn't some planned activity for the students, and remarkably our son seemed to enjoy every one of them. We were impressed by the breadth of activities, which were thoughtfully designed to expose the students to many aspects of Spanish culture - food, economy, politics, arts, recreation, education, and more. The communications were detailed and reliable, both pre-trip and during the trip. After the 5 week program with LITA, our son's Spanish abilities increased dramatically. I have a family member who's a native Spanish-speaker, and he can now converse with her fluently. She told us that she's rarely met a native English speaker who is as comfortable and capable in Spanish as he is. His Spanish teacher from last year also noted that the amount of improvement is remarkable. Since shortly after he returned, our son has been thinking about his next trip to Spain. He continues to communicate with his homestay brother and we've had a FaceTime call with their whole family. I think the bottom line is this - for a kid who's truly passionate about Spanish language and culture, LITA is the perfect program. When their leaders reached out and asked for constructive feedback, my wife and I couldn't think of anything but praise.

Fantastic experience: LITA deserves a 10 out of 10! What an incredible experience you provided for my son. He loved it and it has forever changed him in the best ways. The pre-departure process was excellent! Especially connecting us to his host family. LITA picked wonderful families - which is no easy task. My son loved the set up of living with his host family, going to class and seeing his friends, and then being with all the families at night in his homestay community. He gushed about this! As a parent, this type of immersion experience was beyond our expectations.

Fantastic experience: Our twin boys did separate LITA programs this past summer (one went north and the other south), and both had incredible experiences. They are very different kids, but each loved their trips. They made huge strides in their Spanish while exploring and living in rural Spain. Their days were organized with fun and off-the-beaten path excursions and activities – hiking, scavenger hunts, swimming, cooking, dance and music classes. The highlight was their homestay experience, which ironically was the aspect of the trip they were most nervous about before leaving. Jordan and his team put a great deal of thought into matching students with their families, and the results show. Both of our boys were sad to leave their families as well as the other students and leaders at the end of their trips. From start to finish, LITA was extremely well organized, supervised, safe and a lot of fun. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We chose LITA based on a friend's recommendation, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. My son attended the 5-week North program in 2023 and did an internship at a shop on the main plaza of the town where they did their homestays. He spoke virtually no English - not even with us - during his five weeks, and we were amazed at his progress in Spanish. His confidence, maturity and interest in the world outside the US also grew by leaps and bounds. We thought LITA's strengths were the rural (no English) locations, the curated internships and homestays, the cultural activities, the group leaders and the peers - it's truly unique. It's best for students whose Spanish is already pretty solid and who are flexible, independent and very serious about improving their Spanish.

Fantastic experience: LITA was an amazing experience for our daughter, who traveled with them to Spain during Summer 2017. They took the time to truly figure out who our daughter was - not only her Spanish ability, but also in terms of her personality - and tailored her experience so that she really got the most out of the experience. We can't say enough about LITA and really recommend them to anyone seeking a memorable and intensive experience in Spain!

Fantastic experience: Our daughter is from a small, rural town but last summer, as a 15-year old, she longed for adventure in a new culture and sought a worldwide travel experience. As parents, we supported her interests but we also wanted her experiences to be safe, educational, and culturally enriching. In Lita, we found a program that satisfied all of us. Jordan and Michela have developed a singular and exceptional Spanish language immersion program for high school students that is remarkably well-tailored to individualized interests of their students and that introduces Spain as a deep, rich, and vibrant culture, not just a tourist destination. Lita's success is due in very large measure to the personalized efforts of Jordan and Michela to match their students with homestay families. Our daughter stayed with her family for only 3 weeks, but the bonds they formed will last a lifetime. She and her new Spanish "sister" remain in constant contact even now, and we would love to host her next summer for our own informal cultural exchange. Our daughter also loved exposure to the variety of Spanish subcultures embedded in the Lita program, from stays in rural Galicia, to trips to the University at Salamanca and the coast near San Sebastian, to the wonderful 3-day trek in the Pyrenees. Lita's focus on getting their students out of big cities into smaller towns in the Spanish countryside, where English is rarely heard, pays big dividends in several ways. Lita is truly a deep-dive language immersion program, and our daughter is now reaping the benefits in her high school Spanish classes. She is so much more confident in her listening and speaking. She learned to take risks in learning a language and now thoroughly enjoys Spanish classes, rather than dreading them! Moreover, by locating students in small to mid-sized cities for their homestays, Lita students learn to appreciate the flow of everyday life and the rich culture of local communities. Only after this this local immersion is complete does Lita introduce its students to Spain's large cities -- Barcelona in our daughter's case -- and the students' experiences of urban Spain and its cultural wealth are enriched by the intimacy of their grassroots experiences arising from their homestays. Finally, we cannot say enough positive things about the care and professionalism of Jordan and Michela in putting together a truly first-rate program. We never had a concern about our daughter's safety, and we were well-informed about her activities throughout the whole of the 5-week Lita experience. Planning and logistics were superb and easy. We are all so grateful we found Lita.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter says LITA was truly the best experience of her life! As parents, we were very impressed with how well organized the LITA program is. Not only was it a true language submersion --- but the trip was full of true Spanish culture and filled with fun. Our daughter was perfectly placed with a loving family and a wonderful volunteer job as a preschool teacher's assistant. She loved every minute. The friends she made on the trip are now friends for life. I loved that the students were from all over the US. We could not have been any happier with our LITA experience. Jordan and his team are top-notch, kind and wonderful.

Fantastic experience: LITA provides a highly personalized language immersion experience for high school students. My daughter enjoyed the group travel and learning opportunities as well as living with a host sister and family in Spain. She also had the opportunity to do an internship in a local children's center. Overall, a very rewarding experience with long term benefits!

Fantastic experience: LITA is a beautifully designed program-- I participated in during the summer of 2015. The program has connections in Spain that allow for unique trips, to private jamón farms and castles to private cheese tours. And I cannot speak more highly of the home stay component either-- getting to know a different and its community on a personal level myself and everyone else found so rewarding. Jordan, Michela, and everyone else involved really care about each member's experience, and it's that level of personal customization and attention to detail that sets LITA apart from your average program. Any high schooler with a taste for adventure, Spanish culture and language should apply here first. You will not regret it.

Fantastic experience: I would whole heartedly recommend the LITA program to prospective students and their families: it is a great experience and one you and your child will remember forever. Sierra had a great experience. She made friends both with kids on the trip and local kids, through her family and the local families of other LITA kids. These friendships have endured and Sierra has been back to Spain twice and has stayed with the family of one of her local friends each time. Additionally, Sierra’s Spanish improved tremendously, primarily due to language immersion with the local kids. Finally, Sierra matured a lot from this experience, becoming more self-reliant, confident, and able to deal with problems that arise. Jordan and his staff are careful, professional, and meticulous in making arrangements for the trip, and in supervising every aspect. He is always available and willing to help with any issue relating to the program and, may even provide suggestions on Spanish travel plans outside of the program. LITA is a great opportunity for kids to obtain an immersive experience in a different culture.

Fantastic experience: Traveling with LITA was a breathtaking experience filled to the brim with opportunities to meet lifelong friends, delve into Spain authentically, and grow as a Spanish language speaker. I can't even begin to describe the feeling of being in Spain after my Junior year in high school with such an amazing group of people - every second spent there was incredibly eye-opening. Everything from my internship to my homestay to backpacking through pueblos blancos to simply relaxing with my friends in the grass by a centuries-old castle in a tiny town managed to lodge itself in my memory. I can honestly say that it was the most amazing summer of my life. I established phenomenal connections both in Spain and in the US with my host family and all of the friends I made, and we've all remained in close contact, which just emphasizes the exceptional ability that LITA has to bring communities together. I recommend this program to no end. Gracias por todo, Jordan y Michela!

Fantastic experience: LITA truly is a once in a lifetime experience for any high schooler looking to expand their Spanish speaking skills and enrich their understanding of Spanish culture. LITA allows you to experience the many opportunities Spain has to offer by engulfing you in its diverse and rich culture. LITA offers you the unique opportunity to experience full language immersion through both a home stay and travel. Although challenging at first, the home stay was one of my favorite parts of the trip; while it was very captivating and enjoyable to interact with my new family entirely in Spanish, it also proved to be incredibly rewarding as I looked back on my improvisation and enhanced Spanish speaking ability. Whether the immersion into an entirely different culture, the fascinating places we traveled to or the wide variety of food that Spain offered, during my summer with LITA I experienced personal growth, a drastic change in my Spanish speaking abilities and a lifetime of memories and friends.

My son now goes to college in Europe-The minute my son got back from his trip, he announced that he would be going to college in Europe' he loved the experience so much. He is still in contact with friends he made during his trip. My daughter loved it as well. She came back fluent in Spanish- Her teachers were amazed. We were thrilled with the whole experience- Jordan was so helpful and organised- he made it very easy!

Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to travel to southern Spain with LITA a few summers ago, and it was one of the best experiences of my high school years. LITA is a fantastically well run program, but more importantly it is a community that allows you to fully embrace the challenging experience of language immersion. I fell in love with my host community and with Spain during this time, and back home I would not have been able to pursue the opportunities in Spanish without the practice LITA gave me. Two big thumbs up for LITA!

Fantastic experience: My trip with LITA when I was 16 was like nothing I had ever experienced. I made great friendships with the people I met and am still in contact with my host family to this day (almost 5 years later). It brought my knowledge of Spanish from OK to conversational but perhaps even more significant, it helped show me how little of the world I knew. I discovered just how much was out there to experience and it gave me a desire to go out and seek those experiences. When the time came to pick a college I chose one in Italy and greatly credit LITA for giving me the open-mind and confidence it took to do this. LITA helped open my eyes to the vast world around me and that is an incredibly powerful lesson for a teen.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. I had looked into a lot of different trips to Spain to improve my Spanish. This program stood out to me because of the lengthy home-stays in small Spanish towns, where not many people understand English. Jordan, through his connections in these towns and the time he has spent in the region, is able to set everyone up with a great home stay, something entirely unique. In fact, I had such a good time at the homestay that I have since returned twice on my own. The kids on the trip were great, I still keep in good touch with a lot of them. The activities were unique and a lot of fun, and my Spanish improved leaps and bounds.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful experience for a language immersion, Spain, summer, and high school. I sent my daughter 5 years ago while on her summer break between junior and senior year. The experience was life changing for her. My daughter was a well travelled child but this was her first experience "out in the world" without her Mom :) and she thrived. Making friends that I feel will last a lifetime for her. Jordan's love and passion for Spain and its culture shine through in his carefully planned itinerary. He does such a wonderful job matching these young adults to host families that are just amazing. This is a definite consideration for any parent looking to provide their young adult with a positive and fun life experience.

Fantastic experience: I went to Spain with LITA in 2011 and I can't say enough about my experience. I had never been a particularly strong Spanish speaker, but being immersed in Spanish culture for five weeks really improved my skills, and made learning the language that much more interesting for me. I loved that LITA was a small program because it meant that all the kids felt cared for, and it made the group experience very personal. Living with a host family in a tiny village in Spain was an experience that I will never be able to replicate-- not only was it the perfect way to learn about a foreign culture, but I also formed friendships and relationships that I will have for my whole life. Having just returned from a college semester abroad in Chile, I can say with certainty now that LITA's personalized experience really bolstered my interest and love for the Spanish language, and for international travel and cultural immersion.

Fantastic experience: LITA is an exceptional Spanish immersion program. The directors Jordan Romm and Michela Corcorran do a fantastic job of curating a culturally rich experience. Each component of the trip is so well thought and is so fun! My Spanish drastically improved, specifically when I lived in a home stay for three weeks. I also loved exploring the country and felt immersed in the beautiful culture.

Fantastic experience: Going into the summer I knew going to Spain was going to be awesome. But not this awesome. Finishing my junior year of High School i was ready for a totally amazing experience and thats what I got. From the minute we got to Spain my Spanish had improved from being with LITA. I made such great friends with everyone, the homestay and throughout the whole trip it was just so personal. The activities, experience and totally immersive experience was everything I could have hoped for. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an immersive program in Spain during High school.

Fantastic experience: I'm coming up on my four year anniversary; I went on a LITA trip the summer before my junior year of high school. Time has rendered me more able to articulate my experience, but I still struggle to describe my five weeks in detail, if only because the experience in its entirety has left such an indelible mark on me both personally and academically. Fast forward, and I am studying Spanish at the university level. Particularly in my homestay town, I was faced with so much of the unfamiliar. But I finished the program with an immense appreciation for what I had experienced, who I had met, who I had talked to... I had learned to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, and to approach life with spontaneity and a willingness to connect with others, on whatever level... I learned to seek out enjoyment and to celebrate the victories, however small, and the togetherness. I returned to the U.S. - after my first extended stay away from home - with such an appreciation for everything that had transpired, and for the Spanish language and culture. I am confident that I could not have had a better abroad experience in Spain and in high school if not for Jordan Romm and LITA. I'm looking forward to studying abroad in college, in part because LITA taught me that I could do it, and in part because I can't wait to return to Spain.

Fantastic experience: I went on LITA the summer of my freshman year and it was honestly one of the best summers I have ever had. My host family was so nice and welcoming, they treated me like a second daughter. Two years later, I am still in touch with them! I really got immersed in the Spanish culture. My Spanish (and accent) definitely improved, it was only my second year of taking Spanish and it wasn't a problem. I also loved hiking and touring around Spain with the group. I highly recommend this program because it was an experience that you will cherish forever.

Fantastic experience: LITA provided the most personal, immersive experience I could've imagined. From the beginning, the multiple skype calls and dinner visits signaled to me how invested LITA's director was in my experience. On the actual trip, the group was small enough for lots of individual attention and growth. I knew personally all the authority figures on the trip, people who would constantly check in with me. My homestay experience was probably the most intense, immersive three weeks I have encountered in my life. Surrounded by such a tight-knit community in the middle of Spain, my Spanish exploded. The relationships I formed with my host family mirror those with my classmates and my instructors: almost two years later, though letters, emails, and visits, we stay in touch. Through the care and investment of the program leaders, LITA provides the most personal and most authentic trip I can imagine.

Fantastic experience: I had the opportunity to go on a LITA program in Spain the summer before my junior year of high school, and it was definitely one of my best experiences in high school. My favorite part was the homestay because I got to spend three weeks living with a host family with a host brother my age. The homestay was in a smaller town, so I felt like I got to experience the most authentic form of culture and language immersion because I was part of a small family and a small community (as opposed to a larger city where English-speaking tourism is common). This program helped me improve my Spanish speaking and listening skills dramatically because I spoke Spanish almost exclusively and had a lot of fun doing so. During the program, I formed lasting relationships with my host family and the other Americans in my group, and we're still in touch today. I would strongly recommend this program to anyone who's adventurous and really interested in improving their Spanish and experiencing an amazing culture first-hand!

Fantastic experience: LITA gave me the best summer of my life. The summer after my sophomore year I decided to immerse myself in the Spanish culture through the LITA program, and this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only did my Spanish speaking skills improve tremendously, but I gained even more of an appreciation for other cultures. I made many unexpected friends, and I had so much fun while doing it. This program is so great because you are able to travel to several different areas in Spain throughout your trip which allows you to gain a perspective of the country as a whole. From host families to internships, LITA's family-like staff works to make sure that each student is comfortable and prepared to succeed in their environment. I would recommend this program to anyone who would like to improve their Spanish speaking skills and experience authentic Spanish culture.

Fantastic experience: The LITA experience was one of the best I have ever had. The group not only gave me life long friends in both Spain and the United States, but also a deeper understanding of Spanish culture and language. Anyone interested in an immersion program should definitely consider LITA, as it truly ensured full immersion in a town that did not feature English speaking options. I am very thankful I was able to go on the LITA trip and gain new perspective and ability.

Fantastic experience: My summer of Junior year, I went on a LITA trip and the experience completely changed my life. Before going on the trip, I had never truly known the urge to learn another language. I liked Spanish, yet I did not have a strong drive to understand it. During and after the trip, my passion for Spanish grew exponentially. Due to the home-stay experience, I made friends with many people in Spain, and the urge to be able to communicate with them allowed me to become passionate about Spanish. LITA ignited a love of traveling and language for me, the experience could not have been better. Since the trip, I have traveled back to the town where my home-stay was every summer to visit my friends there. I became completely immersed in the Spanish culture and now that I am a Sophomore in college, I have even decided to minor in Spanish and complete a concentration in International Business. LITA is an amazing program that helped me realize what I would like to do with my life and career, I would recommend the trip to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I went with LITA to Spain my freshman summer of high school, and had an amazing time. I looked in to a lot of language immersion programs, and Lita really stood out because of its emphasis on the immersion aspect. You stay with a family in a small town for most of the trip, and you have to always speak Spanish, because no one speaks English. You also spend some time in bigger cities, where you are given the freedom to explore and immerse yourself in the culture. It is a very different experience than goig somewhere as a tourist. I would really recommend it.

Fantastic experience: LITA was one of the most influential and positive experiences of my time in high school. Spending the summer in language immersion should be the ambition of all students who are passionate about language study, and LITA provides the most in depth and enriching language immersion experience I have seen. What distinguishes LITA from other language programs is the emphasis on the personal part of the language. One of LITA's main strengths is placing students in welcoming communities in Spain where they can truly be immersed in both the language and the culture, something few other programs can claim to do as well as LITA does. High school Spanish classes were a breeze because of the language skills I learned over the summer through LITA. There is simply no more effective way to learn a language than language immersion, and there is no better vehicle than LITA for immersion.

Fantastic experience: LITA has no doubt had an incredibly impactful & positive impression on my life. Jordan Romm, the head of the program, makes a strong effort to compile a group of students that bond with each other, and to pair students with host families that they will stay in contact with for the rest of their lives. LITA made me close-to-fluent in Spanish, which allowed me to excel in my AP-level Spanish course, and played a huge part in the success I had with the college applications process (I'm currently a freshman at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration). My host family and I have become incredibly close--we 'WhatsApp' each other at the very least once a week, and I've had the great fortune of returning to Spain to stay with them the two summers following LITA. The only problem I feel compelled to warn about it that you may leave the program liking Spain TOO much, and never want to leave!

Fantastic experience: Traveling with LITA five years ago is still one of the best decisions I have ever made. As a high school sophomore living in Vermont I was ready for a different setting for the summer. Spain was the perfect choice. In Spain, not only did I become friends with the people I travelled with, but I also am still connected with all the wonderful people I met abroad. From taking day trips to nearby towns or simply going to the town pool with my host family I felt completely assimilated into the Castilla y Leon culture. I left that summer speaking Spanish fluently and with a host of new memories that I will truly cherish forever. If you're interested in traveling with LITA, in my opinion there's no question...GO! You won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: My summer with LITA was probably the most influential one of my entire life. For me, LITA was about more than just learning Spanish -- which I did, reaching a level of almost fluency after my five weeks in northern Spain. I understood what it was like to live in a small, rural Spanish town, from the daily routine of a homestay family similar to my own to the nighttime adventures of people my own age. The rich culture of the various regions of Spain undoubtedly influenced me both personally and academically. Although I was only a rising sophomore in high school, I felt completely comfortable being abroad for so long and loved every minute of it. I think of LITA as my high school "study abroad" experience, and I know that it has changed the way that I see the world and allowed me to make friendships that will last a lifetime. As someone who has been on various trips with other companies, I would strongly advocate that anyone who has a love of travel, language, or adventure to travel to Spain with LITA!

Fantastic experience: My experience with LITA changed my life, and I look back on the trip with the fondest of memories. It is certainly a unique and homegrown program, in the most wonderful way. The itinerary of the trip is so thoughtfully planned out, even down to the meals. We were always led to the authentic and culturally important places in each specific area we were in.The 3 week homestay was a highlight for everyone, where we were really pushed to use our Spanish, due to the lack of English in the small town. Living with a family, I was able to form a close bond with my host family and feel like I was being integrated into the Spanish lifestyle in a natural way. I still talk to my host family, as well as other Spanish friends I became close with. From the start, our group really came together, and I still have them as close friends today. When I went back to school, I stood out in my Spanish class because I spoke more comfortably and naturally. My experiences in Spain made me so excited to learn, because the learning was personal. I wish I could go on LITA over and over again. I cried my eyes out at the end of the trip. The friends you make, the places you visit, and the things you learn about your surrounds and yourself are truly incredible. I am so grateful for LITA and I recommend the program 100%.
