First, I worked with Erika to gain confidence in my communication skills in my job. She helped me with English technical skills and developed a style of organizing and presenting ideas (written or verbally). I am currently working with Hanieh to sharpen my pronunciation skills, improve my vocabulary, and excel in my communication style. The classes are very engaging; Hannieh always brings some exciting podcasts or articles to facilitate the class, which enriches the learning experience. Another thing that I appreciate about ESL For Professionals is the group classes. I've been participating in several of them, like the book club, pronunciation & accent reduction. Experiencia fantástica: I've been using ESL's services for a year and a half to sharpen my American English skills for academic settings mainly. I'm working with two ESL professionals so far - Erika and Hanieh. It has been a terrific experience to work with them. With Erika, I've been working on the American English language's subjective aspects, while with Hanieh, I could dig deep into American English grammar and linguistics. In addition to the classes, ESL also provides its students with workshops like the pronunciation one. In this workshop, Hanieh uses her phonetics skills to tune the English pronunciation of ESL students with practical exercises and practice. It has been a rich learning experience to study and practice American English with Erika and Hanieh (even in the field of linguistics, which I was willing to). With them, I could finally see progress in my already advanced to fluent English in a matter of a few months. No matter if your goals with American English is for academic or business settings, I would strongly recommend ESL's services to anyone willing to move forward with American English.

I felt like I was back at college, reading materials, practicing and finishing my homework, yet everything was truly worth it. I understand and kinda fluent in English but I’m not that confident to speak the language. Erica was very helpful and referred me to Hanieh to help me with my needs. They even offer free group classes (w/c are also very beneficial). Been with Hanieh’s 1 on 1 class for more than two months now and I’m always excited to meet with her in our Zoom classes. She is not just there to assist me with my English proficiency needs, she’s also a friend. I am very comfortable having her as my instructor. Experiencia fantástica: Erika is an exceptional teacher, and I recommend her to anyone who wants to improve their English communication skill. I lived in the United States for more than 10 years after acquiring a master's degree from business school, so I can say that English is not really an issue for me. Still, having born in Korea, the accent was still tough to fix. I was making mistakes on 'th' sound, or 'r' sound. It occurred to me that I really needed to work on this when 1) I presented in front of the investors and I didn't like my accent, and 2) my 6-yo daughter began to correct my accent. She was like "Daddy, it's not bowl, it's ball!". I found Erika through Thumbtack, and after interviewing some other teachers, I decided to start the class with her - given her professionalism, and positivity, and more than anything else - how pleasant it was to speak with her. After several months, my daughter stopped correcting my accent, and I feel much more confident speaking in public. I am invited to conferences as a moderator or a speaker. I feel very comfortable on those occasions. It was such a great investment of time and money!

Tara is a committed and dedicated teacher that helped me to improve my pronunciation and writing in English. Tara's classes were critical to improving my daily job quality, including reports and documents. In addition, discussion groups on pronunciation organized by Erica were a great way to interact with other students and learn from them.

She is very experienced and also passionate about working with students to find the best way to improve student's English skills. Erika's curriculum is very structured and she is always prepared for the classes. One of my favorite sessions with Erika is a Group Book Club session. It really allows me to speak up among the group and improve discussion skills in English. Since I started to join the book club, I feel confident and I am no longer afraid of reading books in English. I would have regretted if I couldnt met Erika. She is amazing! Highly recommend her! Experiencia fantástica: Hanieh Nezakati is my Teacher at The University of Idaho, emphasis on Teacher. There's a big difference between a Teacher and an Instructor. The moment she went looking at our computers in class one after the other, just to make sure we got everything right, I realized that she is a Teacher. Hanieh's teaching skills are top-notch, she can make the most complicated things look so simple. I was able to understand everything that pertains to writing research proposals, annotated bibliographies, Literature reviews,etc. These things were all sketchy to me but after her classes, I can comfortably say that she has helped me learn these subjects. Hanieh is a very thoughtful, helpful and engaging person, easy to connect with and always wants the best for her students.

Experiencia fantástica: This review is dedicated to Tara Nwoke. I was very unsatisfied with my English pronunciation. After being in US for more than 15 years I felt embarrassed when people were not able to understand me in restaurants, stores etc. I took classes with Tara Nwoke and she showed me so many little things that can improve my pronunciation instantly. She was very thoughtful and listening, adjusting our classes to focus on the most problematic accent aspects she observed. She was guiding me through the hardest English sounds, role playing activities, articles, idioms, songs. Our classes were never boring. I was looking forward for each class. She gave me a perspective and I appreciate it so much. I feel that I’m not lost now and I can really polish my accent. Moreover Tara is very fluent in all modern online technology tools, she is punctual and very easy going person. And I said I was/were. Not true. I’m still Tara’s student and we’re still working together to make me fully American. Thumbs up Tara!!!
