Fantastic experience: Bonjour à tous, I just finished my first one-on-one French lesson with Sophie Juster in “Le Petit Club Sophie “ and had the most wonderful experience! If you are looking to refine your French speaking and comprehension skills, I encourage you to consider joining “Le Petit Club Sophie!” Sophie is an amazing teacher as she mentors and guides you through the nuances of this beautiful language and culture. You will love it!

Fantastic experience: Just finishing up 8 lessons of Level 1 French class with Alex at English to French and couldn't be happier. The class was a gentle reminder of things I learned long ago in high school and college french, but I'm more motivated and ask way more questions than I did back then. I'm eager to take level 1A as I continue to develop skills before I head to Montpellier next fall for an immersion course.The course has been relaxed, low pressure, full of fun students and Alex has been flexible as we lead him down rabbit holes to talk about French culture and politics. The price is right, and the schedule fits in with my busy life. I recommend English to French courses for those living in/around Mission Valley San Diego.

Fantastic experience: I love From English to French! I wanted to learn the basics in an in-person classroom because I am over learning solely through technology. I also wanted to meet new people and learn alongside peers, and this class has been perfect for that. Professor Manali Agarwal is a phenomenal teacher. She makes the learning experience engaging, fun, and inspiring. If you are feeling nervous about joining a class or trying something new, I say go for it. Growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone, and this class is exactly the kind of challenge you need. It is worth the investment, and I keep going because of my wonderful cohort of classmates, too. I am heading onto Level 2b soon and am really looking forward to it. This class gives me a reprieve from everything happening in the world.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend From English to French enough. The classes are small so we are alwayd able to practice our pronunciation every class. Our instructor was incredible at helping us understand concepts. Most importantly, she was great at correcting us which made us feel comfortable when practicing our weekly dialogues. This is a amazing class for anyone that would like to start learning French.

Fantastic experience: The small group lessons are engaging, with great teachers who offer structured lessons and lots of practice speaking and listening. 2.5 hours is enough that you're thinking in French by the end of the class. I learned French in high school but had forgotten a lot, after a quick conversation on the phone Sophie was able to place me in the appropriate class for my level. I've been enjoying my 2B+ class so much I just signed up for another set of classes, and am feeling more confident in practicing my French in upcoming travels.

Fantastic experience: I have had a great experience learning French with the folks at From English to French. Their groups are small and everybody is very friendly and encouraging. They provide with all the materials and make the classes fun and engaging. I have tried a couple French schools in San Diego and FETF has been hands down the best.

Fantastic experience: Great french classes for a great price. I am taking the level 1 course and just signed up for level 2!! I like that the in-person instruction focuses more on speaking, pronunciation and listening. A way more realistic approach than the average french class!

Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic French language school, all the teachers are from France and are excellent! I studied French in high school and college but really wanted to refresh my language skills as I am frequently traveling to France now. The classes are so good, taught all in French with some grammar study but mostly working on learning about French culture and advancing conversation skills. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this course, From English to French, enough! After taking French in high school and a bit in university, I hadn't seriously worked on my language skills in years—aside from the occasional Duolingo session. I was placed in the Intermediate class, which has been a great challenge for me. While my comprehension is at an intermediate level, speaking was another story—I felt like I forgot everything! Thankfully, our instructor, Léo, is incredibly patient and encouraging. The small class size allows for plenty of conversation practice, which has been key to regaining my confidence. The lessons are immersive, engaging, and keep our French expressions au courant—honestly, this class is just as good, if not better, than my university course. If you're looking for a high-quality French class in San Diego, this is the one! Abla H.

Fantastic experience: J’adore From English to French! I first started taking classes at FETF in 2021 to improve my rusty college French and have now been taking the 8-week series off and on for over 3 years. Even when I take a break, I can come back and always feel welcome by Sophie, the owner and all the magnificent instructors. The class usually consists of each student sharing about their week in French, then we move on to either discuss current events, debate topics of general interest, talk about French culture, and more. The instructor facilitates grammar and adds to our vocabulary as we go. It is a very supportive environment to learn. Over the last few years, my French has improved exponentially. My confidence in speaking the language is greatly elevated. I have also made some fabulous friends in class with similar interests that we can share beyond class, like going to the opera, ballet, museums, and more. Without a doubt, Sophie, the owner is strict with her business model, but I must say I positively appreciate a strong woman with an excellent service. Bien sûr. Je recommande certainement FETF! Fantastic experience: I've really enjoyed my classes with Fab. Our small group is always fun and lively, and I've picked up lots of subtleties of the language that would be near impossible to figure out from online resources. Overall, would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I took classes hear for a year and I absolutely loved it. I tried to learn French on my own many times and taking these classes made me advance so much quicker then i could have alone. All of the teachers are great and the owner is very easy to work with your schedule or anything else you need. The best place to take french classes ever!

Fantastic experience: I was a student for several years a few years ago. I am just now able to return. Sophie has a terrific school for all levels of French speakers and French speaker wannabes. I love being at class and look forward to every week. It is a safe environment to take a risk and try to learn this language. I have had many teachers over the years and all have been very kind, friendly, creative, and knowledgeable. I strongly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Fabienne is an excellent instructor -- Certainly for the basics too, but I especially appreciate her philosophical insight into the nature of the French language!

Fantastic experience: I am taking Dr. Fabienne for Zoom classes. Do you want to learn French? Expect to learn from Dr. "Fab" - but expect to work hard in doing so! You will not learn the language without homework, talking the "talk", listening and taking Dr. Fabienne. Her expectations are high for you just as they should be for yourself. She is the most knowledgeable, experienced and professional French teacher I have had in my years taking French. She teaches the foundation of the language and expects one to WORK for the knowledge. I am so glad Sophie, the owner of the school, coordinated this opportunity for me. (Sophie is always available and responds quickly to any correspondence - telephone or emails or texts). Simply put - this is a great French school.

Fantastic experience: I started French classes with From English to French two months ago after returning from a trip to France and feeling inspired to immerse myself more in French culture. Lea is a fantastic teacher! She is dedicated, a professional, and passionate as a full-time teacher. The time passes so quickly in class because it is fun and engaging. Fantastic experience: i have been taking classes at From English to French since March 2023. i started in beginners' level class and then moved to advanced class. i had great experiences with all of the professors as well as classmates. the setting is intimate so the students are getting a lot of personalized attention as well as ample time for practicing. i find it very helpful for me when the professors are giving us a lot of opportunities to practice speaking in French. The class is very interactive and multifaceted. Overall im a very happy student!

The group-style classes were helpful too, since there were other classmates in there I could practice with and learn from. We speak only french in the intermediate class which is the best way to learn quickly. The teaching is structured and accessible, and the owner Sophie is attentive and supportive.

I take a private class with Cecile and a small group class with Ann. Both teachers are patient and encouraging. Learning a foreign language isn't easy, but they break it down and explain it until we get it! And our classes are actually a lot of fun. Fantastic experience: Excellent! I have been attending classes here since Fall of 2016 and have noticed a marked improvement in my French. Sophie the owner has bent over backwards to be helpful to me and my instructor Jean-Baptiste is a true pro. All the teachers are native French speakers and the classes have been challenging and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking to improve their French.

Fantastic experience: My high school daughter has been getting tutored here for the last 18 months. The teachers are top notch and she is now nearly fluent in French. If you have are a struggling French student or if you want to improve your fluency, this is the place for you. If there were more stars I'd give them.

Fantastic experience: An exceptional personalized French learning experience with fun exercises incorporating listening, grammar, reading and conversations every class. I was able to dust off cob webs from old high school French to a confident conversation level within months of joining when I had to use it in France. The semi-private classes are affordable. I've had the pleasure of learning from Sophie, Cecile, Anne and Sebastian, each one bringing different aspects of French language and culture to life. Lots of laughter and great friendships are shared in this wonderful community.

Fantastic experience: This is a great place to learn French--no matter what level you are or how fluent you want to become. I studied it as a child but did not continue with French past high school. However, I always found it a beautiful language and, as an adult, wanted to give it another try. I was delighted to find From English to French! The classes are excellent and a lot of fun--enough that I have attended almost every Saturday morning for nearly a year. The program offers evening and daytime classes too, something to fit all schedules, and all levels from beginning to advanced. All the instructors are native French speakers and they bring a love of their language and a real enthusiasm to their teaching. And I’m happy to report that they are all very patient with our struggles to master their lovely language! My French has improved a lot and I look forward to becoming more and more proficient. The program is practical, useful, and the teachers use a variety of methods to keep our interest and introduce us to new ways to learn the language. Some students take classes to simply improve their French before a trip to France, and some aim for fluency, but all of us enjoy our class experience and appreciate our teachers at From English to French. The prices are very reasonable, so why not give it a try? You won’t regret it.

Fantastic experience: I relly relly relly relly like FRENCH! SEE WHAT ID DID DTHERE

Negative experience: I am extremely disgusted by the poor customer service from the owner, Sophie Juster, and I would not recommend anyone take french lessons at this school. Obviously she has absolutely no training in customer service and I feel like she has no regard for her customers - only her profit. She left me a terrible voice mail, basically screaming at me and ending with "I do not wish to hear from you EVER again..." Unfortunately I had to cancel two private lessons ($79 each), last minute, as I was sick one day and had an extremely urgent issue with my wedding venue potentially being cancelled four months prior to my wedding the other day. Both days I emailed her and let her know about the situations. I told her about my situation about just receiving an email regarding a potential cancellation to me and my French fiance's booked wedding venue for May (only four months away). Her email back to me basically showed no compassion for our emergency situation, she said "bummer," and then she tried to sell me on signing up for group lessons at the end of the email and offered to give me a complimentary lesson (to cover losing today's $79 lesson time) if I signed up for the group session (which I was already planning on signing up but this was the WRONG time to try and sell me on something and show NO compassion for the situation I am in!). In addition, I think the techniques that this school uses is not very efficient. They give you a photocopied handout, play recordings and then you basically just read through the French dialogues together (which are not usually relevant to anything). All in all, I think that it is very inappropriate for a business owner to call and yell at you on the phone, and I don't think that anyone should have to stand for such poor business practices and awful customer service. After receiving my email she did refund me the $79 for the missed lesson, but only because she "did not want to EVER hear from me again...."

Fantastic experience: I heard about From English to French from a local friend who is a mutual fan of the language. After moving into the area, I decided to finally pursue my dream of learning the French language. Admittedly, I was apprehensive that the experience wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Happily, I can report that my expectations were met and surpassed! From English to French is spectacular for basic learning. In the past, I thought I was incredibly dense when it came to learning languages. After just the very first lesson I realized I simply lacked the correct teacher. I came looking to learn French and left with an unexpected boost in self-confidence. As the months passed and my French vocabulary rapidly grew, so did my confidence. Above all else, that is why I can’t praise these affordable lessons enough!
