Fantastic experience: I took Italian lessons with Bill for 6 months to prepare for a trip to Italy and learned everything I needed to get by during my time abroad. Bill is super organized and reliable, he individualizes instruction, customizes homework for each lesson, and is always available and quick to respond to any questions. He has incredible knowledge of the language and you will not only be able to converse with a host of verbs in your arsenal but will have a thorough understanding of the grammar behind it all. The volume of functional language I learned with Bill far exceeds any other app or lesson I've tried in the past. I highly recommend Bill for language lessons!

Fantastic experience: Bill's one of those rare teachers with the gift of understanding a student's optimal learning style and catering the class and homework to make the student successful and constantly motivated. I've never learned anything in a private setting before and Bill makes learning Italian feel downright luxurious. The speed of the coursework is set specifically for me, the homework itself, for me and each session feels like we're making weeks of progress in a day. I've been subscribed to a few Italian instagram channels for a while before starting these lessons and after a few months with Bill, I realized I was no longer reading the English translations :). I highly recommend working with Bill if you're interested in working on your Italian or French.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I began weekly Italian lessons with Bill Savage 10 months ago as complete beginners. Learning languages has always been very hard for me, but Bill had me speaking full Italian sentences after just one lesson! He uses a building block technique that makes it easy to begin constructing sentences right away. With each additional lesson I have learned more building blocks that I can use to form more, and longer, Italian sentences. After only 8 months of one time a week lessons, I was able to write and read a multiple paragraph essay in Italian! His lessons are individualized for us, and in between lessons he creates specific homework for us to practice our growing skills. He is always available via text and email to answer any questions we have about the homework. I look forward to our lessons each week. His method is fun, engaging and confidence building, all things that are essential for me to learn a foreign language. I can't wait to try out my new language skills on my next trip to Italy. I highly recommend him as a teacher.

Fantastic experience: I never enjoyed learning languages in school and have tried dozens of times to start. With Bill it's been near 9 months, it's flown by, and didn't seem like work at all. In fact, working with Bill has made me want to go on to learn more languages after Italian. He's an exceptional teacher and his methods open up the world of a language over just a few lessons and in a few months you're beginning to understand things that years of study didn't get you in school. I can't recommend Bill enough. If you want to learn Italian and have ever struggled, give Bill a try. Che cosa aspetti?

Fantastic experience: I started working with Bill in December of 2021 to learn Italian! My husband is Italian and his family is living in Italy. We had tried learning before with Duolingo, but always gave up/felt like what we were learning had nothing to do with things we would ever need to say. Within the first two months we took a trip to Italy and were able to converse with non-english speakers. Now it is 7 months later and we can't wait to go back with so much more knowledge! It's been really amazing, Bill's system is so easy to follow and it keeps us accountable without being stressful. So excited to continue on the path to learning more Italian! Our goal was to be fluent by 1 year and it feels like an easier goal than I would've imagined thanks to Bill's way of teaching!

Fantastic experience: If you've almost given up learning Italian, hire Bill. I take his French lessons and have loved his method. He breaks down the principles so logically and memorably that I'm finally understanding it (vs just "studying for the test" memorizing). Each of his lessons efficiently tackles the building blocks of French, and if I've needed to slow down, Bill is super reassuring. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I recently completed a two-month, bi-weekly, crash course in Italian with Bill. During our private lessons he always exhibited a great sense of humor, patience and flexibility during lessons: always energetic, approachable, and encouraging me to push the envelope and to rise to the challenges he put in front of me. It might be worth noting that, unlike programs that emphasize a more conversational approach during lessons, his teaching style leans toward discussions around structure, grammar, usage and accurate pronunciation. Lessons are conducted by Zoom and concepts and diagrams of his own improvisation unfold effortlessly on his whiteboard over the course of an hour. Lessons are followed by homework assignments that reinforce the topics covered earlier that day. Remarkably, between lessons he's available via email and text to answer questions about homework. Should I decide to continue learning the language after returning from my travels, I'll definitely be looking to see if he can fit me in for additional lessons. It's a fabulous language to learn, and Bill most certainly made the process fun & effective. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about how thrilled I am to have found Bill Savage for my language learning needs! I've been studying Italian with Bill for just under three months now and I can't tell you how much I've learned! Bill is a thoughtful, thorough and enthusiastic teacher who tailors his lessons to each of his students. He will go as fast or as slow as you need him to go. When I say tailor, I mean tailor! He spends time understanding your language learning goals and customizes your lesson plans and homework to align to those goals. Through a lifetime of study, Bill has found a unique way to teach that helps the learner quickly understand patterns and reason and each week you truly see the progress you are making. It happens so quickly you almost miss it and then you realize "I just said that perfectly!" Bill is also extremely available to his students. While he provides a plethora of materials to help your weekly studies along, he is also a text or email away if questions arise. He definitely goes above and beyond. With Bill, I feel like I'm not just memorizing but truly understanding and learning. I look forward to continuing my language learning with Bill and am excited to know he'll be cheering me along throughout the process.

Fantastic experience: Bill is a great teacher. I'm learning Italian from him to prepare for a trip to Rome. His lessons are tailored for you, the student, and go at your pace. He will teach you as much as you want/can absorb. I like how he focuses on just enough grammar so you take away enough of the language to have a conversation in Italian rather than being limited to tourist phrases. At the end of each section, Bill takes a pic of the board, reads all the words, and sends me those texts and recordings. As a result, being able to reference the lesson material is very easy. No textbook is necessary as he gives me all the material needed. It is a great experience to work with him!

Fantastic experience: Bill has tutored me for the past year. I began lessons as something to keep me occupied during Covid, but continued well after as I realized I love learning and it's a great way to keep your mind active. Bill is a great instructor. He tailors his lesson plans to each student. He is available to answer questions I may have outside of my lessons promptly. I started with Duo Lingo, but realized it wasn't teaching me in a way that was useful to my learning style. I am getting so much more out of private lessons with Bill, and it is great to see how far I have come. I would definitely recommend Bill as a tutor to anyone who wants to learn a new language.

I learned more with Bill in two sessions then I learned in another well-known, local language school in months of group classes taught by native language speakers. You cannot find a better language teacher than Bill Savage. Customizing lessons for the learner, Bill is a madly gifted language teacher, combining an upbeat and engaging personality with stress-free interaction/repetition, and pedagogical building blocks that click together like Lego. He also provided countless memory tricks based on pattern recognition, shaving an enormous amount of memorization time from the start. Finally, one-on-one lessons are key for rapid language acquisition, and Bill’s private teaching fees are on par with the group classes I was previously paying for. Bravo, Bill!

Fantastic experience: If you want to learn Italian in a fun, easy to comprehend way then look no further. Coming in I had essentially no previous experience in the language whatsoever and learning a new language from scratch is daunting, but the thing about Bill that I really appreciate is that he makes learning a truly fun experience because you can tell he enjoys what he does which really makes a difference! He doesn’t just teach you textbook Italian but also legitimate conversational Italian that you’ll hear/need/use in your travels. It’s taught in a way so you can hit the ground running when you travel and he also breaks it down in a way so that you can be really self teaching in being able to form your own natural thoughts in a new language! Also, I really appreciate the little anecdotes of history behind why things are the way they are which makes the experience not only enjoyable but really interesting. In just a few short months I already feel like I’ve come quite a ways and I’m truly proud of myself and excited for what’s still to come! It’s a beautiful language to learn and I highly recommend Bill without question.

Fantastic experience: I do not have enough good things to say about learning with Bill. We have met three times a week for the last six months and it has been a truly enjoyable experience each time! Although busy in other areas of life and work French is so fun that I take it as a relaxing time to refocus my brain and learn something beautiful in a new way. I give all that credit to Bill! If you're thinking about trying to learn a new language I genuinely could not recommend anyone better, in the world.

Fantastic experience: Bill is a gifted and dedicated teacher with methods of imparting information that really work. When I entered his studio for the first time, it was with great trepidation and doubt, but at the age of 45, I just couldn't put off approaching my dream of French fluency any longer. To my delight and surprise, Bill had me speaking within 30 minutes. A year later, I feel just as enthused and grateful. Learning language with him is invigorating and exciting. Fantastic experience: I wish there was a way to give Bill 10 stars!! My fiancé and I started taking Italian lessons earlier this summer to prepare for our wedding in Italy. I’ve learned more in 5 hours of lessons with Bill than I ever learned in my college non-English language classes, and feel confident I will be able to communicate effectively during my upcoming trip to Italy. Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been taking lessons with Bill for the last 4 months or so for our trip to Italy. You can tell he has a passion for teaching and has been able to do more for my second language learning than any previous language teacher has prior while I was in school. We were originally just going to try to learn the basics before our trip but have since decided to continue through after our trip and learn to speak conversationally.

Fantastic experience: Bill is a gifted teacher, but he also has a special genius. He understands how language is put together. He has his own techniques and devices that help you pick up phrases and meaning so quickly. He had me speaking 10- and 15-word sentences in Italian in our first one-hour tutorial. I was so motivated after that. He gave me the confidence that I was really getting somewhere, that I could truly learn to speak Italian. And I can! It was so motivational. I can’t say enough about Bill’s contagious enthusiasm, his charm, his dedication. Maybe it is because he is fluent in and teaches both Italian and French, but the dude knows language.
