Fantastic experience: Amazing Spanish school! Engaging instructors, small class sizes, and great personal attention. I highly recommend this school.

Fantastic experience: I have taken multiple in person courses at Tierra and I can’t recommend them enough! The teachers I’ve had have been really knowledgeable about the Spanish Language and its cultural context.

Negative experience: Administration is unorganized. You are allowed to register with email confirmation and pay for a class of your choice; only to jump through hoops later to prove you are at that level and when that happens there is no availability in the class. Super disappointed because I had heard good things..

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place for learning Español! Teachers are all great, knowledgeable and from different backgrounds! I've made a couple life long friends here, bonus perk! I've always preferred the in person classes, due to how I learn the best and they are great as they keep the classes small so that everyone is getting equal time participating and being paid attention to (for help) from the teacher. Would 100% recommend to anyone!

Fantastic experience: ¡Cecy es muy fantastica! She is such a great teacher and explains concepts super well. Cecy also creates a safe space to ask questions and gives helpful feedback. I love her approach to teaching and how interactive it is! I really am so happy I found Tierra! Elyse has also been a wonderful wealth of knowledge and understand the process of language learning and helped guide me towards the correct class fit. I am excited to continue my studies with Tierra!

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy the small classes. It makes sure that you do not get forgotten in the class. My instructor is very friendly and a blast to work with. She makes the class go by fast. She does this by making the class fun while still learning the material.

Fantastic experience: Took an online intensive course in Spanish. I learned a lot and very much enjoyed my instructor Cynthia. The classes were informative and fun. There is homework between classes but it never took to long to complete.

Fantastic experience: Tierra is a wonderful school. The teachers are super helpful and kind and patient. They are so creative with their lessons. They offer in person and virtual classes, and both are done very well. The price is fair for the quality and consistency. They incorporate conversation and practice classes in between the different levels so that you can take time to put new grammar into practice. They offer classes in literature and history and other interesting topics. I've taken classes here for many years and with many different teachers and I have only great things to say about it. You should definitely take classes here!

Fantastic experience: My experience at Tierra has been wonderful. Everyone is extremely supportive and helpful with no judgement. My professor (Cecy) is very knowledgeable and you can tell she has been teaching for several years. Tierra was flexible with me when I had unexpected obligations arise and they worked with me around this. I highly recommend Tierra to anyone who is passionate about learning Spanish, at any level.

Fantastic experience: I'm getting ready to start my third session with Tierra, I'm really enjoying it! I have taken classes at local community colleges, and from other local language schools, and Tierra is quite a different experience--in the best of ways! I am learning so much, and really enjoying the teacher and my classmates. I like the format and philosophy, and the time just flies by during class. It always leaves me wanting to study more!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic center for learning, where the instructors are deeply knowledgeable and engaging. The classes are small and therefore not intimidating, where the instructor has more time with each individual on their respective level. Classes range from grammar, to conversation, to cultural studies, etc. Great services too - such as meeting with students outside of class times. Can't say enough about this place!

Fantastic experience: Tierra is great! I've been taking classes since January, currently in my third one. Each one has been engaging, fun, challenging, and definitely helped to advance my Spanish grammar and conversational skills. The classes are small, which allows a chance for everyone to participate and receive the attention they need from the instructors. The students come to learn for a variety of reasons but one thing is common, everyone is excited to learn!

Fantastic experience: Tierra Education Center is one of the best places to start learning Spanish, continue learning Spanish, refine your language, or examine the cultures surrounding the language. Many of the classes are taught by people who's mother tongue is Spanish making the experience authentic. I have found the the teachers try to challenge my knowledge while at the same time keeping me on track with my level for conceptualizing key components of the language. I always look forward to the class and regret when the lesson is over. The prices are extremely fair in comparison to other centers and when you miss a class, you have the option to do a private lesson at a discounted rate. Also, Wednesdays there are extra assistance hours which I have used a few times to get a more in depth and 1 on 1 answer to problems I have been having on certain lessons. Fantastic experience: I've had 4 years of High School Spanish and learned some colors, days of the week, numbers, and how to ask where the bathroom is. I've been with Tierra for about 10 months and I am now writing short essays, learned how to talk in the past tense, and have a supportive environment where I can keep practicing. I really like coming here. It's a great school if what you want is the skill, rather than a piece of paper saying you have a skill.

Fantastic experience: I have taken a couple of classes at Tierra and want to heartily endorse this school as a great place to learn Spanish in Portland. The classes are small and everyone there is very friendly and welcoming. I found the learning climate warm and inclusive--best of all, the teachers seem to really know their students and tailor the content, concepts and pace to the needs of the students. There are no extra costs for books and other materials as they draw from various sources-all provided to you. They offer an extra tutoring class once a week and monthly conversation/social nights. I feel great about supporting this locally owned business--Norberto and Elyse have made a niche for themselves here and I am glad I found them!

Fantastic experience: Tierra is a wonderful place to learn spanish! I learned a lot in the 10 weeks of class and felt like I walked away each night feeling more confident in my Spanish! The class sizes are small to maximize learning, they include a good balance of conversation, writing, reading and listening, and they challenge you while meeting you skill level. The staff was very helpful and assisted in getting me into the right class for my language skills. My teacher, Laura, was wonderful and I would recommend her classes!

What I have appreciated the most is the welcoming and supportive staff, teachers and fellow student which creates a safe and encouraging place to learn. Positive experience: Tierra Educational Center provides not just Spanish classes but great customer service. It is a fun environment that engages students. I have been a student since May 2013 and I am learning a lot. I have been in Verenize's class as well as in Laura's class and both are great teachers. I also had a chance to have 2 classes which Caroline, a teacher from Spain. It is interesting to see teachers from different Spanish speaking countries engaging students. I do recommend Tierra for anyone looking to learn Spanish.

Fantastic experience: Tierra is the best place to go to if you want to learn Spanish! The class size is small which is very helpful. The teachers and the staff are very caring. There is a perfect balance between conversation time and learning time in class. They always communicate with the students well and do their best in making sure all students are taking advantage of class time. Elyse was a fantastic teacher!
