Fantastic experience: Thiago continues to make class something to look forward to each week. I have felt my language skills growing as I have continued to attend class each week. The class has been a great way to learn while having fun.

Fantastic experience: Taking Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 with my instructor, Jaime, was great! The classes were very helpful, informative, interactive, and fun. We also were able to learn about vocabulary and grammar relevant to our interests too.

Fantastic experience: San Jose Learning Center has been such a great fun experience. I am on my 3rd Spanish class since October and have been working Jaime who is very thoughtful and accommodating and explains concepts thoroughly. The admin assistants are very responsive and reply promptly as well. Taking these classes has become something I look forward every week!

Fantastic experience: I’m really enjoying my classes at San Jose Learning Center. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, which makes learning a new language much easier. Profesora Clara is amazing, she is so sweet, patient, and encouraging. She creates a comfortable classroom environment and makes every lesson engaging. I always look forward to class and would definitely recommend studying here if you want to learn a language in a positive and friendly setting!

Fantastic experience: I've been taking Spanish 1 online with Thiago, and will be transitioning into Spanish 2 soon. I always look forward to class because Thiago is so much fun to learn from and very outgoing and welcoming and encourages us students to ask questions or make comments. The lessons and homework plus some Duolingo has made me much more confident. In just a couple of weeks, I'm able to read and speak some Spanish. I studied the language back in high school, and always had a hard time with conjugations, but now utilize the formula that Thiago has shared with us students. Highly recommend his class and going to SJLC in general! The staff are incredibly understanding and nice as well. I'm super excited to continue learning Spanish, and plan to take other languages in the future. Thank you so much :)!

Fantastic experience: I’ve taken French 1 to French 3 with Aida Lecointre, and I highly recommend her. She is an amazing teacher—very patient, encouraging, and understanding. The workbook and assignments have been very helpful, and they’ve really supported my learning. I’m currently preparing for DELF A1, and she has helped me a lot in understanding the exam structure. She is also very understanding when life gets busy and is kind about delayed submissions or questions from previous levels. I really appreciate her support and teaching.

Fantastic experience: I am currently taking French with Aida, and it’s my first time learning the language. She has been really helpful and supportive from the beginning. She provides great resources and answers any questions very quickly over email. She explains concepts clearly and makes learning French much less intimidating. I’ve had a great experience so far!

Fantastic experience: I finished my Japanese 1 here. Teachers are great, staff members are professional and nice. The class materials are well designed, and courses are very well structured. Would def recommend this if you want to pick another language in a friendly, engaging and fun vibe!

Fantastic experience: I've been learning Japanese at the San Jose Learning Center for more than half a year. I've enjoyed the online lessons that are taught over Zoom meetings in small groups. I can have plenty of opportunities to practice during the class to get the best result from learning a new language; the turn-in homework every week is also carefully planned so as not to overwhelm students who usually are working adults. My teacher is very understanding and accommodating, and I feel free to communicate with her on all things that are about the curriculum, schedule, or just personal mishaps on missing homework deadlines, and she always responds as soon as possible. Not to mention the absolute value of learning from a native Japanese speaker, who would tirelessly answer all of your questions about the Japanese culture.

Fantastic experience: Currently enrolled in the Spanish level 1 classes and it has been a wonderful experience so far! The instructor, Bhavya, is very friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. She makes it so easy to learn a new language! Planning to continue to the 2nd level here. Classes are well paced, good quality of leasson and homework and its a great atmosphere to come in person for the classes! 10/10 recommend!

Fantastic experience: I took the L1 Mandarin course and am very happy with the course content and lecture quality. Classes are engaging and the instructor is friendly and professional. It was well paced and an excellent enrichment to self-study.

Fantastic experience: I've now taken two Japanese group classes at the San Jose Learning Center and I plan to continue doing so as long as they're offered. They have almost exclusively native speakers teaching the Japanese courses and I look forward to class every week. I take the hybrid option so that I can attend class virtually or watch the video later when I'm traveling for work, but I love that classes meet in person for better learning and discussion. I'm so glad this place exists!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend learning Japanese here at SJLC. I've taken classes with Ami and Kantaro and both were extremely helpful. It's always nice to have someone who can answer your language learning questions. Also, the venue is nice with cozy classrooms, and the location is convenient off the 101.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking Japanese classes at SJLC for almost two years, all the way from level 1 to level 9. I took most of my classes with Ami sensei, who is a native speaker and clearly an expert in teaching Japanese. Ami sensei is knowledgeable, patient, and easily approachable. Her classes are well-paced and packed with numerous speaking and writing practices in addition to the textbook content. She also uses slides and media effectively to enhance her teaching, which adds a lot of fun to the classes. I've had such a great experience so far, and I can't wait to start the next level with Ami sensei!

Fantastic experience: SJLC is a unique place for adults to learn any language. I’ve been studying Mandarin, but they have so many other languages including English for foreigners. The classes are easygoing and fun. Just once a week outside of normal working hours makes it very convenient.

Fantastic experience: First time taking a class here and glad I did and will continue to do so! I tried out Japanese level 2 with Ami Sensei who was amazing! Very supportive and great interactive classes with several speaking exercises using the newly learned vocab and grammar. Thank you Ami Sensei and SJLC for offering these classes with several convenient time slots!

Fantastic experience: I was very happy with the level 1 intensive mandarin class with Sai. This class helped me understand parts that apps and books don't explain. The class was engaging and lot of fun. I also liked the curriculum and the homework assignments where we had to interview native speakers. I will be taking level 2 class next with sjlc.

Fantastic experience: I have had an excellent experience learning Italian at the San Jose Learning Center. I have completed two classes so far and I am excited to continue! My teacher, Stefania, is so kind and helpful. I appreciate the smaller class sizes as well. Everyone that I have communicated with from San Jose Learning Center has been extremely helpful and professional. I am so glad I found SJLC!

Fantastic experience: I have been attending San Jose Learning Center for almost a year now, and it has been an incredibly fun and enriching experience! I’ve taken both hybrid, in-person, and online courses with them. The class times are very convenient and they’re set up extremely well to accommodate online learners. The staff are very friendly and caring towards their students. Kruu Ann (Teacher Ann) is very enthusiastic about teaching Thai, and does so skillfully. She adapts her lessons to what we students need, and challenges us to greater heights. I’d recommend SJLC in a heartbeat to anyone who wants to learn a new language!

Fantastic experience: I just completed my second course in Thai (Level 2 Prime) with instructor Ann, and it’s been great. As a new learner of the Thai language, the course strikes the right balance of teaching the language holistically (reading/writing/listening/speaking) through functional situations. Though early lessons are focused on proper pronunciation, grammar, as well as vocabulary, instructor Ann keeps things interactive and fun. It should be noted that the class only meets once a week. So, there’s definitely an element of independent self study. That said, I would recommend the class to anyone who’s looking get a good introduction to Thai.

Fantastic experience: Took Vietnamese level two with Brian and it was definitely the right decision. Building off my Vietnamese level 1 class, with the new practical knowledge of directions, locations, and being able to describe others with adjectives, I was successfully able to hold a short conversation in Vietnamese with my friend when I visited Vietnam last month. Fantastic experience: I took Japanese 2 with Keiko who is a native speaker. The textbook is great and the in person class is effective for the rate of learning and practicing speaking. There are a variety of class offerings at different times and there was one that worked for me.

Fantastic experience: Great school and teachers who care about their students. They offer in-person and online classes for adults. I started learning Russian in-person and was able to continue online after moving away.

Fantastic experience: I've taken Japanese classes with Mari-san and she's really wonderful! Great listener, explains the language well, structured, plenty of teaching experience. She's relatable to everyone; we have really fun discussions. Because of her teaching, our group got to a point where we were all able to have a full Japanese conversations with each other: about our experiences, EN/JP differences in Pokemon names, or why Labubus are so expensive. She not only teaches fundamental Japanese, but also teaches useful Japanese not taught in textbooks/traditional classes. Would recommend her class 100%

Fantastic experience: This is my third review for SJLC! I’m about to begin Japanese Level 12 with Ami sensei, and it’s been such an amazing journey. A few classmates and I are now preparing for the JLPT N4 exam, which still feels surreal. Along the way, I’ve even made great friends I hang out with whenever I’m visiting the Bay Area, and I’ll be attending one of their weddings next year! I’ve taken all my classes online, and while there have been occasional technical difficulties, they’ve never stopped or impeded my learning. I never imagined I’d reach this level, and even though I still feel like a beginner at times, Ami sensei is always there to support and encourage me (and the rest of the class). Thank you SJLC and Ami sensei! I’m looking forward to another great year of learning Japanese.

Fantastic experience: I've taken adult beginner level 1 and level 2 Thai language with Kroo Ann and it's been super fun these few months of learning. She's the best language teacher and really good at fixing tones and pronounications which is what I needed as someone who could listen but not speak as frequently. It's very structured per lesson and we go over a specific topic, do homework, and review next class. Ann has really helpful beautiful presentations to guide students each level! A big pro is it's hybrid so there's options to do only online if you're out of town of San Jose and/or go in-person for a small group setting. Ann does a great job of keeping everyone engaged online and in-person! Class has been small but it's been cool to meet other students from other levels thru the community the teacher has built. Looking forward to continuing learning, speaking, and writing.

Fantastic experience: I've taken 4 Japanese classes here so far, doing both in-person and online lessons. Every teacher I've had has been polite, professional, and hands-on in teaching the classes and helping me learn the language. The evening classes are also really convenient for those working 9-5. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I took Thai class with P’Ann and she’s a wonderful teacher. My Thai improved so fast after only 7 classes and I’m able to have proper conversations when I travel to Bangkok. Kudos to P’Ann!

Fantastic experience: I had already taken several Spanish classes at the San Jose Learning Center and was pleased with the progress I was able to make. Next, I wanted to focus more on my conversation skills in Spanish. They offer a variety of levels for Spanish conversation. The school provided a test for me to ensure I was placed in the proper class. The instructor used Spanish almost exclusively. However she would switch to English is people were not understanding the explanation in Spanish. The instructor was patient and affirming. The conversation class had five students so there was a chance for each person to practice conversation skills. We had a variety of conversation experiences. Some were prepared ahead of time, and others were impromptu. This combination worked well for me since preparing ahead of time gave me a structure and a set of phrases for use in everyday conversation, and the impromptu conversations helped me think on my feet in real time. I plan on taking another Spanish conversation class to continue building my ability to speak with others in Spanish.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been wanting to improve my Spanish for a while, and I’m very glad that I finally signed up for a class with San Jose learning center. Laura was a great teacher, and the weekly class was fun and a great start to reviewing and relearning Spanish. I’m looking forward to continuing my Spanish with the next level class. And the school is well run .

Fantastic experience: I'm taking Spanish 1 on Zoom with Thiago and love it. I normally really don't enjoy Zoom or online learning - in fact, I usually quit part way through. He's so engaging and fun - you can tell her really cares about his students and their learning. I feel like I'm really learning to speak and understand even in this most basic 1st level class. He also does a great job of bringing in music and videos to support our learning. I highly recommend this course and look forward to the next session.

Fantastic experience: Great environment and great teachers to learn a new language. I took a group class for Korean 1 and had a great experience! Met once a week and lesson plans were very well paced. Our class included a balance of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, to help us get a full grasp of the language. I especially liked that our teacher spent a lot of time covering some of the more similar/confusing sounds in the Korean alphabet, so that we could have a strong foundation moving forward. Facility is large with many classrooms and very well kept. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for lesson classes!

Fantastic experience: I’m currently studying beginner-level Russian with Professor Olga at the San Jose Learning Center, and I absolutely love it! The class sizes are small, so you get plenty of personal attention and support. My classmates are wonderful, the lessons are engaging and fun, and I genuinely look forward to each class every week! I’ve already signed up for my second course and plan to continue until I’m fluent. Highly recommend if you're looking for virtual language learning!

Fantastic experience: I’m currently enrolled in the Japanese 1 Hybrid class, and I’ve been really enjoying it. The lessons are clear, well-structured, and easy to follow, even for someone like me who started with zero knowledge of the language. One of the things I appreciate most is the balance between reading, listening, and speaking practice. It’s not just about memorizing vocabulary, the class really helps build a solid foundation by exposing us to real pronunciation, sentence structure, and everyday expressions. We get a lot of practice, especially with listening and hearing natural Japanese, which is helping me understand the rhythm and sound of the language much faster than I expected. The reading and writing drills have also made kana feel much less intimidating. Overall, I highly recommend this class to any beginner who wants to learn Japanese in a supportive, immersive, and well-paced way. It’s been a great first step into the language!

Fantastic experience: I've been taking Spanish classes at San Jose Learning Center and have been enjoying them and learning a lot. The classes are small, so you get extra attention from the teacher and can comfortably ask questions with a small group of peers. I really love the fact that you can join classes in-person (the best way for me to learn), or, if I can't make it in-person, over Zoom. If I ever want to start learning another language, this would be the first place I'd go to start my journey.

Fantastic experience: I took Ami teacher’s Japanese level 1 and I highly recommend taking her class to get started on your Japanese journey. She was so nice and patient. Since she’s from Osaka, you’ll get to learn a lot about not just the language but also the culture. She will help you understand when to use what form of expression and how often certain words are used in the daily conversation. This helps a lot cuz you don’t want to just learn by book. Her class was SO fun! It was always full of laughter. Also, you got to practice your speaking and I love that there are always a lot of speaking practices with the classmates which reinforced the knowledge. Again, highly recommend Ami’s classes. I’d like to continue learning Japanese with her.

Fantastic experience: Thai Lessons with Ann have been amazing. She is an enthusiastic and engaging teacher who makes learning genuinely enjoyable. She brings great energy to each class and creates a fun, supportive environment. What I really appreciate is how patient she is — she takes the time to correct our mistakes thoughtfully and ensures we understand before moving on. Overall, it's been a fun learning experience.

Fantastic experience: I took Level 1 Japanese with Saki and it was amazing! Saki is from japan, which is great because I felt like learning the correct pronunciation from a native speaker helped a lot. I was apart of Saki’s first students in the US and she did an amazing job. We got so many resources for learning. I’d 100% recommend taking a class at SJLC and especially with Saki!

Fantastic experience: Ann is awesome! Her classes (Thai Language, Writing, and Reading) always follow the same format, which really helps me stay on track and learn better. I never feel lost because she has this great way of explaining things that just makes sense. Plus, she's super consistent, and that makes everything way less stressful. She’s always there if you need help or have questions, and she makes sure everyone gets what they need to succeed. I actually look forward to her classes because I know I'll walk away understanding the material way better than before. Ann makes learning easy and fun, and if you're looking for a teacher who genuinely cares about her students, she's your person! Can't recommend her enough!

Fantastic experience: I started taking Japanese classes at a local community college and wanted to continue learning during the summer when the college wasn't offering classes, and I'm so glad I found San Jose Learning Center! Kantaro is a great teacher and is super nice. Looking forward to taking more classes with SJLC!

Fantastic experience: Took Japanese class from Ami sensei. The class size was small with 6-7 people. She was always ready to answer any questions. Everyone received equal attention, and there's a lot of engagement. The class material was also very interesting. Would take her class again.

Fantastic experience: I am currently taking Korean lessons, enrolling in these classes was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The classes, while online are fun and interactive. This allows students to learn at their own pace and practice speaking with each other. I attempted to study Korean on my own with no luck, I have been able to retain and learn. I feel like I'm finally starting to grasp Korean and have gained so much confidence speaking and reading. I am excited to continue Korean and become proficient in the language. Update: Every year there is a celebration for all of the students, it includes food and drinks and an opportunity to meet teachers and other language students. This year's was a lot of fun with games and traditional experiences from each culture. It was the whole experience and I look forward to next year's party.

Fantastic experience: Mandarin Level 1 with Tracy was excellent and exceeded my expectations. She is very patient, takes time to allow students to understand pronunciation well, and handles the timing of the classes well. The San Jose Learning Center is a hidden gem which I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I've been a student of Korean and Japanese at SJLC for almost the past year - now starting Korean level 9, and Japanese level 6. SJLC language teachers are experts and wonderful at making learning easier and enjoyable (classroom practice, variable pacing based on how complex a topic is, and easy access for quick questions via email). Finally, I've been able to conveniently schedule my SJLC classes for weekday evenings and weekend mornings, making it an efficient effort. 10/10 will recommend to anyone who asks.

Fantastic experience: I took the Japanese lv1 course with Ami Sensei, and it was a very fun learning experience. Well organized class filled with fun conversational practices. Participation was a great way for me to start speaking Japanese with peers, meanwhile a de-stresser after a long-day of work. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Taking Chinese classes with Larry Xue – A Great Experience I’ve taken a few online classes before, but this one really stood out to me. Larry Xue, my Chinese teacher at the San Jose Learning Center, made the experience not only smooth but also genuinely enjoyable. Right from the start, he understood that our class was made up of students with different Chinese dialects and different backgrounds. He managed to teach in a way that worked for everyone's needs and skill levels. I’m someone who learns best by seeing things clearly laid out visually, and Larry totally got that. He explained things in a way that made it easy to follow, even when the material got a little tricky. He was patient, professional, and always willing to help when I needed extra support. By the end of the course, I could really feel the difference in my speaking skills. I’ve improved a lot, and I owe a big part of that to Larry’s teaching. If you’re looking to boost your Chinese in a supportive and structured environment, I definitely recommend his class. Thanks again, Larry!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend classes at the San Jose Learning Center. I started taking Japanese a few months ago. I like that the class is a good mix of lecture, exercises, and activities. We also cover things from grammar to kanji to conjugation. Classes are lots of fun and I'm not afraid of making mistakes because it's such a nurturing learning environment!

Our lessons with Kantaro and Ami have been very engaging and we’ve been able to put our learnings to practical use while traveling and with some of our native Japanese friends! Fantastic experience: I just finished Level 1 of the American Sign Language (ASL) course. I was nervous to begin with and wasn't sure I could handle it. Our instructor, Alexa, was wonderful. She moved us along with patience and made the classes fun. Each class began with a session about Deaf History, Deaf Culture and ways to interact with the Deaf population in public. A review of the previous weeks material followed by a quiz was very helpful in reinforcing the lesson. From learning the alphabet, to counting and speaking in sign, the class was a great introduction to ASL. Ilook forward to continuing the journey with Alexa and my classmates in the next session of Level 2 ASL.

Fantastic experience: The online Spanish class with Thiago is such a nicely designed opportunity to learn spanish in real conversation. I like how patient Thiago is to help us repeat the pronunciation and he is so kind to correct my grammar mistakes. The class is fun and it always ends up with useful phrases!

Fantastic experience: I started Tagalog 1 earlier this year with the simple intent to pick up vocabulary and basic conversation to communicate and connect with my Filipino family around the dinner table. About 14 weeks later and now I’ve finished Tagalog 2 (both levels with Joanna, who is a great teacher) and am so much more confident and grateful to the language of Tagalog. As a nerd who loved the classroom because of community and a sense of accomplishment, I’m excited to move onto Tagalog 3. This program has inspired me to travel/explore countries following taking up a new language at SJLC. I’ve had major interest in visiting Germany for the longest time…perhaps I’ll start with German 1 later this year?

Fantastic experience: Learning Korean and it's a great experience. The teacher is fun and it's motivating to have a schedule and classmates to learn with (and commiserate with ☺). Almost done with my current course and signing up for the next level soon!

Fantastic experience: I've taken Spanish and Tagalong classes at San Jose Learning Center. The Instructors are super friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable in their languages. I like the flexibility of choosing to do classes in person, on-line, or hybrid for people that have busy schedules. Overall, I highly recommend taking classes here.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed Japanese 8 with Ami sensei. She is always well prepared and keeps the class fun. The small class size is great for partner practice exercises and getting feedback from the teacher.

Fantastic experience: I took Japanese level 8 with Ami sensei and it was an enjoyable time! The lessons go by quite fast and you definitely need to put some time into studying yourself, but Ami is receptive to any questions you have. Compared to a college class, there's much more speaking involved in my experience, which I think is a good thing.

Fantastic experience: I'm so happy that SJLC exists! As an adult Spanish learner who had gone as far as she could go on Duolingo, I was so excited to find this organization! There are many sections to choose from, and I love that many of them are remote/in-person hybrid. I particularly love that the classes are short term. I feel more comfortable making a 7-week commitment and knowing that if I have to bow out for a bit, I can jump back in during the next enrollment.

Fantastic experience: My husband has been taking spanish at SJLC for almost a year and I started German A1 this January 2025. So far I am enjoying the course, Natalia is great and makes the classes dynamic and interesting. I like that she gives us many resources to practice German at home. I also like that the class is hybrid and you get the recording of the classes sent to your email in case you can not come. Great school and highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: Japanese 1 with Mari Sensei has been great. The classes focus on group interaction and having the ability to practice speaking has been helpful. I believe learning in-person provides a much better experience because retaining the knowledge seems easier vs online/apps only. The hybrid option is available for those who prefer it. If you're looking to start learning a language, I'd recommend San Jose Learning Center.

Fantastic experience: I'm taking Mandarin and I think Kay is great. She's really patient. If you have time before class, she is happy to talk to you in Mandarin before. She will also review a class quickly before if you have to miss a class. The lessons are recorded if you need to make up a class or need to review a class. I'm already on level 5 now and I'm enjoying following the class with my cohort/classmates.

Fantastic experience: I taught myself Korean and this is the first time being officially taught. I joined level 1 because I don't have a solid foundation. My teacher answered all of my questions, even questions that were more advanced. We're not only learning language but culture as well. The staff here are also very nice and obliging. I'm disabled and everyone was understanding and helpful.

Fantastic experience: The San Jose Learning Center is such a gem if you are wanting to learn a new language or brush up on a language you've studied before. I've taken several classes across three different languages over the years and all of them have been fantastic. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have now completed two Spanish courses through SJLC and can't recommend them enough! Thiago has been an excellent and engaging instructor. The virtual format works really well- the class is small and we spend lots of time in small break out groups/getting a chance to practice our Spanish. Fantastic experience: I took Japanese 1 with Ami sensei. I thought it was a great experience overall. Ami uses very clear examples when explaining things. Her exercises along with the book's exercises were great for applying what you learned in a simple and easy way. The classes do move fast and are packed with a lot of info. It definitely kept me on my toes and made me actively think, which is what I wanted out of this hobby. Thank you Ami sensei and SJLC!

Fantastic experience: I'm thoroughly enjoying virtual Spanish II with Thiago! The class is interactive and engaging. The format has really forced me to be present and converse frequently. The class is ungraded and a really positive learning environment. The classes are small and ours never has more than eight participants. I'm grateful the SJLC provides these ongoing classes in multiple formats so I can learn at my own pace. For me an eight week class is the perfect length of time to learn. The classes are reasonably priced as well.

Fantastic experience: Ami Sensei's Japanese class is so good! Not only that I get to learn at a manageable pace, I also learned lots of things that are not explained in the textbook. In-person learning is always the best for learning a new language!

Fantastic experience: I am about to wrap up my first course at San Jose Learning Center and am really excited to return for Level 2. I am so happy to have found this location because it is often challenging to locate in-person adult learning schools. The lessons were fun and challenging, and it was nice going through the learning journey together with my classmates. If you are on the fence, I highly recommend giving it a try. There is no better time then the present!

Fantastic experience: Have taken 3 online mandarin classes so far and the curriculum and practice have taken my mandarin speaking and understanding to the next level. I still have a lot to learn but feeling more confident speaking basic mandarin after each class!

Fantastic experience: Update: Currently on to level-4 with Ami Sensei. During a break between classes she sent us students review material to keep us engaged. She takes the effort to follow up with each student and remembers their skill level even after long breaks. I personally took a 4 month break and I was still able to fit right back in because she helped ease the transition. All this is, of course, in addition to the creative in-class exercises and tests she designs. Also, as you progress through the levels she raises the level of Japanese used in casual conversation so that you can try out your skills outside classroom exercises.

Fantastic experience: The San Jose Learning Center is a great asset in San Jose and I'm not aware of similar organization in other cities. SJLC offers a huge variety of languages reflecting the diversity of the Bay Area region. It is one of only a few places in the US where one can take in-person, group Thai classes! I have taken Thai Level 1–5 from Kruu Ann with additional tutoring in reading and writing and made a lot of progress that I don't think would be possible from self-study or a less structured format. Kruu Ann brings a ton of enthusiasm, great slides, yummy snacks, and useful handouts while also pushing us and keeping us accountable to learning the content. We have also had a number of cultural outings outside of class. Thank you SJLC and Kruu Ann for helping me to connect with my Thai heritage! Edit 2024-09: I have now completed Level 11 of Thai with Kruu Ann and am on to Level 12. It's been an enjoyable journey! Highlights include: guest native Thai speakers, extemporaneous 2 min stories from students each class, Songkran festival, and a new book club in which we read Thai folk stories. As one of the first students of Kruu Ann, it has been cool to see the community of students grow. Who knew there were so many people interested in learning Thai! Definitely one of the best places to learn Thai in-person or online!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I will visit remote temples in Thailand later this year. We worried how we will communicate with locals in such an area. YouTube lessons weren’t working for us, and nor were remote classes. We signed up for the Level 1 Thai class at SJLC, and were delighted with Kruu Anne’s lessons. The teacher is diligent and supportive. The lessons are fun and the class is well paced for busy professionals. The teacher kept a healthy bar for us to strive for. Before we knew it we completed the class and had picked up vital basics of Thai conversation and some Thai script too. The best was when we bumped into Thai people who were impressed with how much we knew in less than 2 months of learning. Without hesitation, my wife and I would give five stars for this class. Many thanks to Kruu Anne for her teaching and giving us the skills and confidence to progress on our journey of learning Thai. Kop khun khrap, Kruu Anne!!

Fantastic experience: I took my first class at SJLC this past summer, placing into Tagalog 4 with Teacher Rhya. After studying Tagalog since 2018 through italki lessons and informal language immersion in the Philippines, this was the most formal--and informative!--language study I had done at that point! I was impressed by the level of preparation, course materials, homework, and extra study materials. I felt supported throughout the course and appreciated Teacher Rhya's care, thoughtfulness, and ability to adapt to each of our needs. I will be continuing to the next level, until fluency!

Fantastic experience: I just finished my first course at San Jose Learning Center and it was a great experience for me. I was a little nervous about trying to learn a new language at this point in my life, but the class at SJLC was perfectly suited for what I was looking for. The pace was great, the material was engaging, and my teacher Nicky was very helpful and knowledgeable - I am looking forward to starting the level 2 course soon. For anyone looking to learn a new language in the San Jose area, I highly recommend SJLC!

Fantastic experience: Kay is a great Mandarin instructor! The weekly structured lessons offered at SJ Learning Centre are a good pace for beginners, and has motivated me to learn the language much more than any of the language apps ever did. Would definitely recommend taking language classes here.
