Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place. I take private lessons with Dayamara, and she is not only a native Spanish speaker, but went to college for languages (and is herself studying and/or fluent in French and Korean), so she objectively knows how to teach the class. She tapers her lessons to my interests (medical stuff and lots of stories!), and gives contextual examples of what regions use what words, and how they may be different (eg Puerto Rico vs. Mexico vs. Spain vs. Venezuela). Wanda manages the place and has always been immeasurably kind, and the lessons are affordable. I’m also not a student of language, approaching middle age, and a busy parent with a full time job, and Dayamara still makes it something I look forward to every week! Five stars!!!

Fantastic experience: Great quality of instruction for both classes and private lessons. The school made sure to find the right teacher for each of my kids, and that has made all the difference! Both my children are excited about learning their chosen languages and getting to use them online and in real life whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Fantastic experience: I never knew that learning Chinese could be doable! I brought my 11year old daughter there for Spanish but when we met Ms. Wanda who was teaching Chinese to a little boy, my daughter decided she wanted to try. I stayed in her lessons and slowly I started to learn as well. What makes it simple is that there are basic characters like our alphabet and there are just 36 of them. They each stand for a specific sound and then you can combine them with the other ones to make words. We have just had 18 private lessons and my daughter can correctly pronounce Chinese words (when written with these characters). It’s not perfect but holy cow! If I knew it was like this, we would have done this so much sooner. I never thought learning Chinese would be possible and here we are. Thank you to Wanda and Maddie!

Fantastic experience: I've been taking Japanese classes at Yuwenbon, and I've greatly enjoyed my time there. The classes are small and interactive, which makes it easy to ask questions when needed. All of the teachers are super nice and helpful. One of the best things about Yuwenbon is the sense of community. Students across all levels are eager to help each other out and recommend resources. It's a very welcoming environment where you can learn from excellent teachers and be around others just as curious and motivated to learn a new language. I highly recommend the group classes here!

Fantastic experience: I have taken several Spanish classes here and I have loved every one of them! This school makes learning so much fun. Every teacher is spectacular and make you feel comfortable in learning a new language which is insanely uncomfortable more of the time.

Fantastic experience: Attended face-to-face Japanese language classes here and it has been a great experience that has helped a lot. Well planned out lessons that allowed interaction between the teacher and students and time to use the language to form sentences and conversations. It was a great resource as well for meeting other people that are learning to speak the language that are at the same level. Being able to speak and understand another language is a great skill that few others have and can afford you many opportunities in life. This is a great way to start learning.

Fantastic experience: I was a student and a student teacher here for about a year. The place is very homely, both in curriculum and in the building itself; you can tell the teachers care very much for their students! I got to be privy to a lot of the planning as well; they were were very careful about balancing the conversational studies with the written and verbal technique of students (being able to hold a conversation vs understanding the grammar and dialect context underneath are different concepts!) A few things to note for their Chinese lessons: - They use the Zhuyin translator language instead of Pinyin, which is actually much better for eventually learning written Mandarin, but it is a little more difficult to start out in. - They post free online copies of the textbooks on the Google Classroom you join if you sign up. Take advantage! - I believe they usually only do 3 classes a week or so for the conversation classes, but allow for as little as one class a week for attendance. You absolutely cannot get by on only one class a week! Do at least two to keep refreshing your vocabulary. I highly recommend for anyone who finds the local colleges lacking and really wants to learn a new language for true conversation (especially Chinese)! It's also good for young kids, especially in the summer (they have a summer camp), and given the available student-teacher instructors (supplement one-on-one classes where a student-teacher is paired with a student to help them learn Zhuyin).

Fantastic experience: Yuwenbon was the perfect connection for language learning for our family! We needed a Spanish boost before moving to Latin America and Ms Wanda was able to arrange an excellent tutor for my husband and I, as well as a perfect tutor to teach our four children in a group. Our kids loved their class and learned so much! They had detailed games for homework between classes. My husband and I could not believe how much our Spanish improved in 10 weeks! Our tutor catered each lesson to our level and was so encouraging and helpful. Both teachers even gave us materials to continue studying while in transition, before we start language school overseas. Very quality and worthwhile program!! We highly recommend their services!

Fantastic experience: Mandarin Chinese is largely one of the hardest languages for English speakers to learn. Language learning is a journey, and in order to succeed and progress, you must be guided and taught on the right path, starting with the basics. Under the instruction of Mrs. Shaw and Mrs. Gen, I was able to grasp a firm understanding of the basics of learning Chinese and gain several tools to help me thrive along my journey to learning Chinese. At Yuwenbon, I wasn't only taught how to speak, read, and write Chinese but I was trained on how to learn Chinese. Learning Chinese goes far beyond learning lots of new vocabulary, grammar, and characters. The first step is to learn the tones and how to use them correctly. Tones are essential as they are a foundation of the Chinese language. Although I have much room to improve, my Chinese professors and tutors at college are often amazed at my pronunciation. They ask, “how did you learn to speak so well?” The answer is simple, Yuwenbon Language Learning Center! At Yuwenbon, I didn't learn Chinese using Pinyin but instead Zhuyin Fuhao, which is a much better phonetic system for learning Chinese. To help English speakers pronounce Chinese words, Pinyin uses the Latin alphabet. Hence, this phonetic system is easier and faster to learn; however, it can bind the language learner to an English frame of pronunciation and inhibits them from unlocking a more premium level of Chinese pronunciation. Zhuyin Fuhao, on the other hand, is more effective and immersive as it allows the language learner to learn Chinese pronunciation through Chinese phonetic characters. Although it may take longer to learn, the Zhuyin Fuhao enables language learners to learn Chinese pronunciation from a Chinese frame of pronunciation. With Yuwenbon instructors and much practice, you will be reading Zhuyin Fuhao as fluently as Pinyin in no time (I learned the Zhuyin Fuhao in about two weeks). More importantly, the instructors at Yuwenbon are deeply invested in fostering a relationship with their students. I grew tremendously in Chinese and established a close relationship with my Chinese instructors, who are incredibly welcoming. I learned so much about Chinese culture and history through learning Chinese and having a great relationship with my instructors.

Fantastic experience: I have really enjoyed my time with Yuwenbon. I took their Korean course and loved it. The teacher was super nice and very friendly. She worked with me until I understood the concepts I struggled with. The owner, Wanda, is amazing. She is friendly and exceptionally nice. I have recommended this school and will continue to do so. If you have a language you want to learn, I recommend contacting the school. Even if the course isn't listed, if you show interest, Wanda will do her best to find a teacher for you. Honestly it's a 10/10 recommendation for me.

Fantastic experience: Yuwenbon is absolutely an awesome school for your language learning needs! I came to Mrs. Wanda a year and a half ago and she along with her amazing staff have helped me really improve in my journey of learning Chinese-Mandarin. They are very patient with your learning pace but also push and challenge you in ways to help your learning process. I’m very appreciative of how much they have helped me and I plan to continue to make Yuwenbon my home school for learning languages! Very professional and high quality teaching that’s personalized to help you reach your goals. 這所學校很好啊！

Fantastic experience: Yuwenbon Language Learning Center is the ideal location for someone who is looking to study a foreign language, or for someone who has previously studied a foreign language and would like to further develop their language proficiency. As a student of Yuwenbon, I studied Chinese under Wanda, and her teaching methods provided me with a solid foundation to eventually go on and travel abroad to China twice, as well as being able to casually converse with native Chinese speakers. If you are interested in foreign languages, Yuwenbon is 100% the place to cultivate your language skills!

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been taking lessons for a couple of years and both children have attended the summer camps. They love it! And I’ve been really impressed with how much she’s learning. The phonics approach is intuitive and fun!

Fantastic experience: The most wonderful little school. I took classes here for two or three semesters and truly loved it. The owner is such a nice woman, and is usually running around and teaching the younger kids. My teacher was Wendy, who was the most kind and patient woman! I LOVED her. I only stopped taking courses here because I had to leave the country at the start of the new semester. I wanted to study Chinese before I went on a trip to Taiwan- I won’t say I learned NEARLY enough in my short time at the school to say anything useful to anyone while there, but when I was in Taiwan I at least got to ask for peaches, and could count a little bit. If you are in HSV and want to study Chinese but don’t want to bother with UAH, definitely consider yuwenbon. The classes are small (maybe 5 people) and the teachers care.

Fantastic experience: Mrs Wanda Shaw truly cares about her students learning Chinese. She makes sure students say their sounds and tones right. She is very accommodating, considerate of families like mine whose kids have many other extracurricular activities and tight schedules. My two girls have been learning Chinese at Yuwenbon since 2015. One and a half years after attending, they have now advanced to where they are now both qualified Chinese tutors at Yuwenbon- an opportunity that they cherish. Mrs Wanda Shaw is always eager to change the academic environment for better- whether it's through evaluation tests, exposing students to Chinese culture or web- based collaboration with Chinese students in their countries. Fantastic experience: My experience at Yuwenbon has been excellent. I started learning Chinese there a little over a year ago and I have learned so much. All levels of learners are there: everything from beginners' classes to advanced classes. Everyone at Yuwenbon is friendly and excited to learn. Mrs. Shaw is very knowledgeable and her teaching methods have worked very well for me and the other students. She is very accommodating and is always finding new ways to improve her students' understanding of the Chinese language and culture.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter attended 2 weeks of the Chinese Summer Camp. She loved it! She was counting to 100 in Chinese, telling me all about the Great Wall, dancing Zumba, making crafts, and making friends. It was a very diverse and challenging camp. We will definitely sign up again and look for more events to attend over the next year.
