St. Louis Language Immersion School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: My daughter loves her Pre-K Chinese class.
Fantastic experience: A fantastic opportunity for students to learn a second language! I am eager for my son to begin attending this school!
Negative experience: No one ever answers the phone or responds to emails I even made time to come up there and still no luck horrible communication.
Positive experience: Love this
Fantastic experience: My kids attend this school and love it. My son has chronic ADHD and the school works with him completely unmedicated.
Fantastic experience: Omg what can I say about this school beside omg I am completely in love with it my kids are happy teachers care about their students go above and beyond to make sure their students are safe and they're learning and they have the material that they need to learn the school as far above and beyond my expectations of what I thought it would be like my kids love going to school they love waking up and going to school they are excited they're motivated they can't wait to see their teachers and their principles they just love it when I went for the parent-teacher conference the treatment that we received was beyond incredible A+ Immersion thank you.
Negative experience: I want to start this review by saying this has been the absolute worst school year my boys have endured! The very first day of school! They lost my kids on the bus going on home! The bus had no air in 98degree weather! The school had no air in 98degree weather! I kept my kids home the entire first week after tht encounter! Tht was just the FIRST TIME! They lost my kids! The second time was on the bus as well! And the Employee over the bus routes was very rude to me & told me “Figure out how your kids will get home!” When it’s her job to make sure my kids get on the bus safely! They had event that same day and my kids was supposed to be apart of it! So I advised the employee to make sure my kids stay at school and I will pick them up due to the event that they were suppose to be apart of! My husband and I was at the school event when we noticed our kids was not performing with their classes! The principal didn’t really have an answer on WHY! My kids was not performing and was not in the school building! Nor could be found on the school premises! AFTER I ADVISED FOR THEM TO STAY AT THE SCHOOL TO BE PICKED UP! The third time they lost my youngest son and had my oldest son on a bus when they caught the bus together that morning! Still No real results! Fast forward to Valentine’s Day of 2024! My youngest son who is 7yrs old! Was using the restroom when a 3rd grader (Estimated Age:9 Because he’s in the same class as my oldest son who is 9!) assaulted him! No one called me and informed me of what happened! Not the principal! Not my son teacher! NO ONE! My children are not safe at this school! And WILL NEVER ATTEND THIS SCHOOL AGAIN! & I Advise Any Other Parent DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN TO THIS HORRIBLE SCHOOL! I Would Like To Give Them 0STARS! Because They Dont Deserve ANY STARS! And Really Shouldn’t Be In Business!
Fantastic experience: Went there when I was 5 in kindergarten I’m 17 in junior high-school they are truly the best school ever they have given me a gift I will forever appreciate
Fantastic experience: It’s a really good experience, you can make so many connections at the school with students and teachers, some people might say how bad it is but once you graduate you will realize how great it actually was.
Fantastic experience: Language learning is so important in the 21st century. SLLIS has wonderful, passionate, caring teachers that help the students thrive in a bilingual environment.
Negative experience: This school I thought would have been a great experience for my child who was in prek in the south side program the worst choice I have ever made I do not recommend please don’t send your kids here.
Fantastic experience: The French Holiday program was magnificent. I usually post photos or videos with my posts. For the privacy of other students and faculty I will not be doing so.
Thank you for your feedback! The French Program celebrations are always fantastic!
Fantastic experience: Our family has subscribed to SLLIS for the past 11 years now. I am proud of the progress that they’ve made over the years!! I am a very proud parent of a SLLIS graduate, a SLLIS currently enrolled student and of a future SLLIS attendee!! Keep up the good work for our community and futures SLLIS!!
Thank you so much for your feedback! We are honored you've been in the SLLIS community for over a decade, and we're looking forward to welcoming your youngest student soon!
Fantastic experience: I just registered my daughter in that school. I think it will be a good fit for my daughter.
Negative experience: They dismissal procedures are horrible my daughters first day school I picked her up while waiting a bus from the school hit my car but no one cared the principal said since the bus was gone there was nothing she could do which was bull every day I come to pick my daughter up it’s a new procedure in place they really need to do better and no one has not even contacted me about my car it’s been two weeks
Negative experience: Transportation is the worst. School gets over at 3:45 and is past 5:00 and my child is not even here. I been calling the person in charge of transportation and the front office and nobody answers. They should at least be more professional and send out communication, Letting parents know what's is going on.
Negative experience: This school is terrible do not sending your kids here unless you hate them this will only set your kids behind in life I went here and I can’t stop thinking about the mistreatment that I experienced as a child.
Fantastic experience: Es una muy buena escuela mi hija estudio desde?el kinder asta el octavo grado
Fantastic experience: It was a very fun school for me to go to I always loved the many languages that were spoken and I love to come back every year to preform for black history month
Negative experience: I use to go hard for sllis. But they are starting to lack so many things. Diversity, academics and even the kids are not learning the target language as they should because they can't keep teachers. They are starting to combine multiple grades because of the decrease in enrollment. The kids can't be controlled half the time.. It is just failing all the way around. I'm glad I'm getting my baby out while she is still young and has time to catch up.
Positive experience: Myself and my children has had good experiences with this school when they first opened their doors back in 2011/2012. I have recommended this school to so many parents. My son has attended this school since KG, he's now in 7th grade and I must say it has really gone down. The straw that broke the camel's back was when my son unfortunately missed the bus leaving my mom to drop him off on her way to work. She has to be at work at 8am so she dropped him off at 7:20am - 7:30am. It was extremely cold outside 19° and the security guard refused to let my son in the warm building stating that the doors are not too be open until 8:15am. She then continued to watch my son through the clear front door of the school while she sat inside the heated building, until a teacher told the principal that a student had been sitting outside for sometime. This incident happened a couple months ago but the thought of my child going through that still makes me cringe and feels my heart with pain!!!
Fantastic experience: I am a student and I love it#sllis1
Fantastic experience: Great community of teachers with the student's best interest alway in mind. "It takes a village"
Negative experience: We attend the Spanish School. In order to save money the school decreased their budget for school bus routes down to just 3 buses. For the entire school! That means your kid could be on a hot/ cold bus for over 1 1/2 hours. By the way, the school doesn't care. Use to be a good school but now not so much.
Fantastic experience: Muy Buena escuela, lo mejor 2 idiomas?
Negative experience: One of the worst schools ever!! My son had the worst experiences from kindergarten to first grade! The students are not treated equally!, the school focuses so much on teaching Spanish that the students lack in their English skills!! My son was racially bullied! And they did nothing! I will never reccommend another student to this school! Or look back! I had to file complaints with Jefferson City! I had to put my son in sum.er school to catch him up for the next year! At a new school! I hope they close this school down!
Fantastic experience: The Chinese school has some of the best native Mandarin speaking teaching staff in the Midwest. As a parent I am so thankful to have so many caring, highly educated, effective teachers in the classrooms. Take a leap of faith. You will not be disappointed!
Fantastic experience: This is such an amazing oppurtunity every child in America should be experiencing! The school is charter ao its free and every child should be emerged in different cultures and languages!!!! Another great experience for st.louisans!!!!
Fantastic experience: Awesome, ambitious, far-reaching program and faculty. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Love the staff, administration and students here! They are always so eager and supportive when I come to teach a workshop.
Negative experience: My Daughter has to leave this school half way through the year because the Spanish teach in first grade is a grade A B***. Other kids repeatedly take her food, cuss at her, and have even slapped her and her teacher/facility fails to report any of this. Other kids tell her there is a clown in the bathroom so our Daughter is now afraid of going there and wet herself once. Teacher/facility failed to let us know of this incident, did not report it, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE KINDERGARTEN KIDS for the year 2016/2017. Also every time we have teacher/parent conferences the teacher only talks about negative behavior and never the fact that she is actually learning Spanish.
Negative experience: my child hurt herself at this school and because of "school policy" they wouldn't even let me in the school to get her, and the staff didn't help her, and the PERSON(very sarcastically speaking) at the front desk was making faces as if what I was saying didn't matter, if I could give them zero I would
Fantastic experience: Great free public Charter school with great artwork in the stairwells.
Fantastic experience: This is a free public charter school that is passionate about their unique vision of serving these students and positively affecting change in the world through them.
Fantastic experience: It's Great I Go There
Fantastic experience: We LOVE the Spanish school! My daughter is completely fluent in Spanish and testing well over grade level in English. She is truly developing into a responsible and knowledgeable citizen of the world with this education.
Fantastic experience: My child is fluent in Spanish thanks to this school. From kg to 5th grade she has loved it and embraced the language and culture!
