ELS Language Centers - Cleveland

Negative experience: Unfortunately, my experience with this English language institute was extremely unsatisfactory. There appears to be systematic financial exploitation, where students are deliberately placed in levels below their actual proficiency to extend enrollment periods and increase fees. Moreover, students are failed for minor and non-academic reasons, while the curriculum and teaching materials lack academic rigor and do not meet recognized academic standards. These practices raise serious concerns regarding the institute’s credibility, transparency, and commitment to education. I strongly advise prospective students to consider other alternatives before enrolling.

Fantastic experience: My experience at ELS Cleveland was really great and full of fun memories. Classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. We had a one-hour lunch break, and on Fridays, classes finished early at 12:20 p.m. Every Tuesday there was a Conversation Hour, which was super helpful for practicing English. The school also organizes fun activities throughout the month. At the end of each level, we had a test, then a short break. Everyone was friendly, and I really enjoyed my time there.

Fantastic experience: teachers and administrators were well trained to deal with all kinds of students, they also have a bunch of activities that fits with the learning process. I really enjoyed my time right there (highly recommended)

Negative experience: My rating is zero. My advice is to save your money or look for another institute.

Negative experience: My brother studied there, and he failed multiple time with no reason, even his finals were B and above with no absence. It seems waste of time and money.

Fantastic experience: I studied in els cleveland about 8 month and thats the best 8 month i had i made a lot of friends all around the world and more importent my language become better and better and els made me ready for my university journey and they have very good staff that include very good teachers and awesome assistant center director. Love that place.

Fantastic experience: ELS Cleveland was a perfect place for studying English! There are twelve levels and each has own curriculum. Teachers were really passionate and kind. This place is also good to make many friends from variety of countries. I could learn and experience different culture! After-class activities helped students to spend great time at the school and in the city:)

The Assistant Center Director, Evangeline is very kind and helpful, which she provides everything the students need. The teachers are awesome and they help to improve your English easily . Fantastic experience: I studied at ELS Cleveland for 3 months. I could improve my English skills, and the experience there was really great! The staff and teachers were all good people and I was able to have very enjoyable days. Cleveland is not a famous city, so you may hesitate to go, but one thing I can say for sure is that if you go there, you can meet a lot of wonderful people.

The teachers are awesome and their style of teaching help you to learn English easily and practice more. They even dedicate IELTS workshop class for students who prepare IELTS test. The administration is also incredible, they assist you with professionalism and prepare fun activities to improve your learning. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The teachers there are excellents professionals who know exactly what immigrant students need to learn English, exactly what we need! The teachers are committed and motivated, they really teach us. I have taken many language courses in my live and ELS teachers in Cleveland are the best by far : ) Especially Gerald and Stephen! two BIG great professionals!! but all teachers are very professional : ) I love this school !!

Fantastic experience: Great place to learn English. The teachers and administration are awesome, they help you reach your goals. In addition, the activities are varied and fun you can make a lot of friends and practice your English with native speaker on conversation day.

Negative experience: The only good thing about ELS is that you can learn about a new culture (sometimes all the students are from one country). The main reason I gave them 2 stars is that if you don't study the English language before you will have difficulty in ELS.

Positive experience: Staff was super helpful. I had a hard time to figure out the correct building for my IELTS exam. I wish there are signs showing you that IELTS exam is conducted in this specific building.

Fantastic experience: The amosphere was both friendly and professional as I entered. The set protocal made it very clear as to what was expected. A passport is a must. Directives were simple and clear throughout the entire test. The staff was very receptive to questions. I found the experience very interesting.

Negative experience: Don’t write your IELTS here..I had very bad experience. Supervisor was very unprofessional while conducting test. I complained and nothing came out of it. Wish I could give 0.5 star!!

Fantastic experience: I took my English language course at this center. Honestly, I strongly recommend this place to international students because the ELS administration is helpful and they doing the best to help students improve their English skills. Fantastic experience: I studied at this center for eight months. Many teachers, including the center director of the center, are always working for their students and do not hesitate to ask questions. In addition to studying, you can gain experience in American culture (college, travel, picnic, etc.). This is not only a place for study, but also a chance to get to know friends from various cultures. It was a great experience for me to get so much while studying in Cleveland for eight months, and I thank many teachers and friends. I miss ELS!!! lol

Negative experience: Very Bad. Do not take IELTS test here, they will never send the test score to requested university. My wife got conditional admit to one of the university as they are delayed my request to send test score. Hope by seeing this review they will send score soon.

Fantastic experience: I was the only student from Poland and even Europe so it was great. New culture, new people (in school mainly from Saudi Arabia and Asia), everything new. I was there for a month and I enjoyed my time there from the beginning to the end.

Fantastic experience: Good place to gain knowledge of English. I am also an international student graduating this center. All teachers always have lots of efforts to improve students' English proficiency. Dorm rooms of ELS are of high quility. Technically, they are not dorm room, are fancy apartments. If you study hard in this center, you will get helps from teachers in various ways.

ELS Cleveland is the best solution for those who want to learn to speak English. I really liked the way they teach, besides they are very patient and friendly. I really recommend it.

Positive experience: ELS Cleveland actually helped me a lot to improve my English. The teachers are patient with students and they care about your learning. People there are nice and kind. The only thing that I didn’t like about my trip was Cleveland’s weather, but it doesn’t have to do with the school. But still, is a good place if you want to learn a new language.

Fantastic experience: ELS is very good to study English because of three reasons, such as learning system, curriculum, and diversity. First, ELS has great learning system. After every student takes a placement test, they will be placed for twelve classes based on their levels. Everyone can study English in a suitable class. Moreover, you could master English in twelve months. This is the shortest period compare to other language courses. This ELS has special features which keep your motivation up. If you study hard from teachers at the end of the term. Second, their curriculum is awesome. Students learn listening, reading, writing, and speaking. You will be able to understand the basic grammar, write various essays in appropriate styles, summaries the books, and speak English fluently. In the class, you will have many opportunities to practice presentations. At the end of the term, you might know how to prepare, organize, and performing presentations. ELS provides interesting class activities, such as studying English in the Museums. While you are studying English, you will enjoy the exhibitions, as well. Lastly, you could get various points of view through learning English at ELS. There are many students and teachers who are from various countries, such as Saudi, Oman, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Germany, Colombia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Poland, and Japan. When you discuss the topics in the classroom, you may realize that there are many ways to think about one specific topic. You might notice the characteristics of each country’s people. Also, you will aware of the differences between the American lifestyle and your country’s lifestyle. You will recognize how American think about certain things and encounter a different set of values. Thus, ELS is very good not only learning English but also understanding other cultures. Learning English at ELS could be previous experience because you could utilize that experience on your carrier. I think that experience also enrich your life. Why don’t you study English at ELS Cleveland?

Positive experience: I spent a month at the ELS and I can highly recommend the Legal language class for students expecting to pursue a degree in law in any American law school. Also, the GRS program of level 110 is significantly helpful and sufficient for undergraduate and graduate students!

Fantastic experience: Everyone is so nice and I've made really good friends there. Teachers are all patient and knowledgeable. I love Iza, Gerry, Jack, Jasmine, Elyse, and Jon; I learned a lot from them, and they do give me confidence to live positively and keep studying hard in the future.

Fantastic experience: The best place to learn English in the United States, the teachers and the staff are so patient over there. In ELS Cleveland you will never feel overwhelmed, everybody is nice. They can be tough over there sometimes, witch is very good for you as a student to improve your English. Plus, ELS Cleveland is not only about studying they have nice activities over there.

Fantastic experience: The reason why I like this place is that not only can I learn English but also I can meet a lot of foriegn classmates here. The best way to improve English skills is to use English every where. ELS provides a great English enviroment to practice so that we can use English more fluent than the past. However, I think ELS should offer some breakfast, because getting up early everyday is awful. We aren't able to have enough time to have breakfast.

Fantastic experience: I really appreciate the time I spent in ELS, Cleveland for such wonderful teachers. I learned a lot there. My writing, reading and spoking English have improved a lot. I know how to write a long essay, how to write an academic writing, how to make a presentation. The teachers are very nice, kind, professional, and eager to push us to practice more in our daily life. I spent a happy and worthy time here.

Negative experience: I would give less than zero starts if it was possible. Nobody answers the call and responds back. Horrible exam experience as well. Request you to select another center if it is convenient for you.

Fantastic experience: I learned a lot from teachers there, I love them so much and they treated me as one of their family members, I came twice to the institution because the place is very good and the area is safe and near to restaurants, libraries, and bus station. Negative experience: DON"T take the TOEFL test there!!! This testing center is very loud, they do the check-in in the same room as you take the test. The dividers between computers is made out of cardboard..staff very unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: An almost perfect place to improve English skills. Teachers here are really responsible and patient. They also have mature teaching experience to deal with students in different levels. Staffs always provide assistance in time and ideal studying environment for students. Climates are custom-made for indoor activities during winter, leading students to pay more attention in studying rather than to waste time in entertainment. The location, which is in Case Western Reserve University, also brings students abundant resources such as the main library, the gym, and a lot of guest speakers of CWRU. Even though part of achievements in studying highly on motivation, passion, and perseverance of individuals, this center could still help students to make improvement in English.

Negative experience: I should have read the comments before I took my toefl test at this center. DON’T TAKE YOUR TOEFL TEST HERE!! The worst center in the world, you will do the check in and the test in the same room and you can’t imagine how loud and distraction it is. I did my test yesterday and it was horrible experience. In addition, the room smells SO BAD, they reshaped empty boxes to make them like guards between computers and they fail at you every second. Just AWFUL for toefl takers. This center must be closed for toefl.

Negative experience: I took my TOEFL there as it was near from where I live.Worst place to take TOEFL test.Poorly administered examination system.If you want good environment when you take test, Consider Driving for half an hour more and choose a better center.
