I started with the "usual suspects", Pimsleur, Duolingo, etc. After my "semester" with Lucile, my skills advanced exponentially. To steal a phrase from the contemporary lexicon, it was an "intensive". I participated in the live session format. In addition to advancing my French, it was great to meet weekly with a wonderful group of likeminded people. My experience provides future value as well, in that, as I "backfill" on my weak points, that effort will benefit from my experience. Merci beaucoup, Lucile.

The small size was also great because we all got to know one another pretty well. I wasn't crazy about the textbook or I would rate the class a 5 star. The book seemed was geared for a younger audience (than me at 60ish) and the online exercises could be wonky with the user interface. I look forward to Lucile's next level class.

Madame Lunde is so patient and the class moved fast enough that I was never bored, but not so fast that I ever felt lost. The book we used was modern and I felt like everything I learned I could use right away. I can’t say enough about it! It’s a wonderful place to learn French!

Experiencia fantástica: I took private lessons from Lucile with the intent of brushing up on the French I'd studied in high school and college (most long forgotten) and getting me to a level where I could participate in group lessons without too many gaps. The lessons were fabulous. While the interactive book and exercises were extremely helpful, the lessons with Lucile helped reinforce and cement concepts as well as go deeper into areas that needed further study. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to accelerate their understanding and proficiency. I'm looking forward to jumping on those group lessons next semester -- something I couldn't have done without Lucile's guidance and instruction.

Experiencia fantástica: I originally signed up to improve my french leading up to a trip to France in the winter. However, I enjoyed the courses so much I chose to continue in her program. Lucile is an absolutely fantastic instructor. I love that we are able to learn about different aspects of French culture, as well as plan our own days to speak about a topic that personally interests us. One of the most important aspects of the course, in my view, is the quality of other students. Being a conversational focused course it is great being able to converse with other people who are similarly motivated to learn and are just fun to be around. I highly recommend taking classes here if you want to improve your french grammar, conversation, and confidence!

Experiencia fantástica: I took the travel course through Zoom to prepare for a trip to France and found it very helpful. After some basics the focus is on practical language skills for hotels, meals, metro, taxi, sight seeing, shopping and more. Lucile is a fun and knowledgeable teacher and given it there are only six lessons a lot is covered and you can refer back to the course manual to review. Thanks!

She kindly offered to reschedule so that our French lessons would be immediately before our trip, which now happens at the end of May. We took the French for Travel course and learned basics, such as asking questions, practicing dialogue for a restaurant or hotel, and recognizing directions. The lessons were fun but challenging. Lucile is patient and keen to make her students have a better understanding of the French culture. I know that we benefited from her instruction and am excited to use our new language skills.

Her explanations are helpful in understanding structure and grammar, and our exercises are challenging but useful and rewarding. The "tempo" of our instruction seems just about right for those of us who have other commitments: fast enough to be challenging and to keep us making progress, but not too fast so as to become frustrating. Experiencia fantástica: Our classes with Lucile have been fabulous. Adults like me, with intermediate abilities in French, will appreciate her teaching style and the design of her courses. Lucile is energetic, patient and responsive. She is very knowledgeable but always eager to research questions on current, everyday French language and lifestyle. We have found all of her classes and outside reading and videos relevant, interesting and useful. My wife and I especially appreciate how flexible and generous Lucile is. We are welcome to influence the focus of our classes and the course of our weekly discussions. During the week we are also welcome to send her questions on our classwork and even on French materials we encounter outside of our assigned classwork. Her answers -- during class and often during the week via email -- are always illuminating and encouraging. All of this results in a relaxed, interactive atmosphere -- and a lot of progress improving our French. For students at any age and at any level, and with any specific interests in French (for travel, for business, for casual study...), I strongly recommend Lucile Lund and "School of French".

I came in with essentially zero knowledge of the French language, and by the end of the first semester, I could hold short conversations with my brother, a fluent speaker, and his friends, who are native Togolese. Lucile is an excellent professeure - she consistently reviewed material each week, challenged us by incorporating more difficult (but feasible) vocabulary into the questions she asked us, and assigned doable homework tasks for each week. Also - this was all online! Lucile adjusted the entire course to be online, and it still ran very smoothly and didn't impede my learning. Can't recommend this course/the School of French with Lucile enough!

Experiencia fantástica: Because of the COVID-19 situation, our spring 2020 in-person class was changed to a weekly Zoom session. It worked fine, we could see each other's face close up on our screen and clearly hear the pronunciations (or mispronunciations). The lessons were interesting and challenging, with some performance anxiety on my part. I learned a lot. Lucile provided materials and resources that gave me the confidence and motivation to continue practicing and improving on my own.

Experiencia fantástica: I started private French lessons with Lucille in March, because I was planning to go to France in May. Immediately we had to switch to Zoom lessons because of the pandemic. Lucille's lessons on Zoom were very well organized. She emailed excellent written material prior to each session that included information, vocabulary and phrases. Each of the 6 lessons focused on a different aspect of being a tourist in France (hotels, transportation, restaurants, general greetings, etc.) Lucile is very nice and supportive. I recommend her class to anyone going to France (when we get to travel again) or to anyone who just wants to learn French for whatever reason.

Experiencia fantástica: French is a hard language to learn but Lucille is very patient and understands that everyone learns at a different pace. I was in a beginners class of four students,.We had online courses where you could work at your own pace and we met once a week in person. I enjoyed both aspects. The in person classes were fun and a good chance to practice. I would highly recommend Lucille's class if you are wanting to learn French. I will be following up in the Fall for more lessons.

Lucile is very knowledgeable about linguistics and creates a supportive environment. I’m a bit shy but I never felt stressed in class, even when I couldn’t remember something. Experiencia fantástica: For 15 weeks I worked with Lucile on Intermediate French in a private group of three. I couldn't be more thrilled with the structure and environment of these classes. The online system works through everything you need at your own pace, and the in-person sessions are both fun and interesting. Lucile creates a very safe and open space for learning which is absolutely needed when embarking on the adventure that is french.

I took French lessons on and off again with her for more than a year, and she was always professional, accommodating of my work schedule, and able to create a comfortable learning environment. I began as a true beginner and achieved a solid intermediate level in approximately 16 months, which prepared me to take a year long position in Senegal.

Experiencia fantástica: Since my research is conducted in francophone Africa, I started learning French in order to be more successful and efficient at my job. However, because I am 30 years old with a rigorous work schedule, I quickly vetoed the option of taking undergrad language courses at Colorado State University (CSU). Although, I attempted to study and learn French on my own through various online platforms and mobile apps, I quickly realized that my self-learning was missing some vital components in regards to phonetics, vocabulary usage, and verb conjugation. After reaching out to the head of CSU’s Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, I was quickly referred to Lucile Lunde. In the department head’s own words, “With Lucile as your tutor, you will see quick results and she will go out of her way to tailor instruction to your needs.” She was not wrong. Lucile’s tutoring far exceeded all my expectations and was the perfect tool for jump starting my French language skills. After carefully considering my language learning needs and abilities, Lucile placed me in the hybrid French 1 course. Afterwards, her skill as a French instructor became rapidly apparent. Any mistake that I made was quickly identified, pointed out to me, and corrected. However, this was not done in a way that was discouraging or overly nit-picky. Rather, Lucile was diligent in ensuring that I formed no bad habits as I laid the foundations for my French language skills. In addition, Lucile made sure to spend extra time on subjects or grammatical points that were especially difficult for me. Whenever I became confused or had questions outside of our tutoring sessions, all I had to do was send Lucile an email. She would quickly follow up with a very thought-out response and provide me with extra resources during our next tutoring session. Lucile proved to be accommodating in many other ways as well. She was aware that my French learning was predominantly geared towards my work in Africa. As such, she was adept at pointing out differences between Parisian and francophone African French language and culture. She also went beyond our standard lessons and trained me in essential travel phrases and vocabulary before my first work trip. Most importantly, tutoring with Lucile was just plain fun! I stopped regarding French tutoring as a box that I had to check off for work. Instead, our weekly sessions became something that I genuinely looked forward to and sincerely enjoyed. Lucile always kept a positive attitude and was quick to encourage and remain patient, especially in moments when I became frustrated or flustered. This created a learning environment that was supportive, respectful, and reassuring. She also made every session engaging and dynamic, providing opportunities for French conversations, role playing, and discussions. Working with her was never boring or repetitive. It should also be noted that Lucile was incredibly professional and reliable during all of our lessons together. She was extremely accommodating towards my work schedule and made sure we could arrange a regular meeting time that worked best for me. In the times where I had to reschedule a tutoring session due to some unforeseen emergency, she was understanding and willing to adapt. When we met together, she was always prepared for our lesson, never flustered, and never delayed or ran her sessions over time. As such, I found that she was a highly dependable and reliable tutor who never wasted any time or opportunity. If you are wanting to either begin or further your aptitude in French, I really cannot recommend Lucile Lunde enough. Under her tutelage, my own abilities in French burgeoned and grew at a rate that far exceeded anything I experienced when I was still attempting to learn on my own. Thanks to her, I feel confident that the grammatical, phonetic, written, and oral skills that I acquired created a strong base upon which to build further French language skills. For those looking for an exceptional French tutor, I strongly encourage you to give Lucile your utmost consideration.

Lucile's lessons are thorough and well organized. She even provides audio tracks for each lesson, which are very helpful. In her French for Travel class we learned so much from how to make reservations, to how to order food in a restaurant, to how to navigate the Metro, directions, time, emergencies, weather, etc. She covers so much in six weeks. You will be very pleased with her classes and teaching style.

She has taught her how to read, write and speak French correctly with an excellent accent and an understanding of the culture and language. She has been exceptional in working with her very busy high school schedule and has structured a custom program designed to prepare her to take the high school AP exam next spring. She is dedicated to making sure she is learning everything correctly. Ms. Lunde has my daughter write and discuss essays for her, watch and discuss French movies, and read French Literature and discuss plot and character development. Lastly, while in France last year, my daughter was able to speak fluently with native speakers and many commented on how we'll she spoke and that her accent was excellent.
