Experiencia fantástica: I’m just about to begin my second round of classes with Live The Language, and I can’t recommend Deidre enough! She’s incredibly warm, patient, and encouraging — the kind of teacher who makes you feel comfortable speaking, even when you’re unsure. In just a few months, my confidence speaking Spanish has improved immensely. The lessons are engaging, relaxed, and she really breaks down the "why" behind when to use certain words, phrases, etc. Deidre’s approach takes the pressure out of learning a new language and makes it genuinely fun. The price is also great for what you get out of it. Not only are there classes, but also other activities like karaoke and lunch/dinner.

Experiencia fantástica: After plugging away at Spanish on Duolingo for several years, I decided to invest in an in-person class to improve my pronunciation and fluency. The two hours of weekly class are intense, but Deidre made the time fly by with fun conversational learning and different exercises, and I really liked the small class size. She also offers a lot of social events such as happy hours and karaoke to help you practice Spanish even more. I'm looking forward to taking another class with her soon!

Experiencia fantástica: I would absolutely recommend Live the Language classes to anyone at any point in their Spanish speaking journey! I was self taught for a handful of years and attended Maestra Deidre’s intermediate beginner class and my Spanish speaking level and fluency has far exceeded my expectations. Group sizes are fun and intimate, and allow for you to learn proper foundational Spanish speaking skills that are otherwise really tough to understand on your own. I am continuing my Spanish learning journey and will continue to take Maestra’s classes because they really are that impactful and worthwhile! Mil gracias, hasta la próxima!

Experiencia fantástica: I've recently completed the beginner level Spanish course with Live the Language. Deidre is very pleasant to work with, she is patient and encouraging. The lesson plan is well though out and easy to comprehend. The class itself is interactive, you are practicing speaking with classmates, asking and answering questions. You also get access to Quizlet practices and all lessons are recorded so you can go back and review. I've tried many different outlets of learning Spanish, and this program definitely works for me. I look forward to the next level courses. Definitely recommend learning a language from this program!

I’ve casually learned Spanish by myself for two years or so but I started Deidre’s class in the fall of 2024 and already felt big improvements after it. I chose to renew for another 16 weeks! Her lesson plan is very helpful for an adult beginner and there was only about 5 students in my class so there’s room to ask questions and participate. She offers a lot of practice opportunities, both solo and in groups (brunch, happy hours, etc). Also, the option to attend any class either in person or zoom is a game-changer. There’s usually hot/iced tea in class, which is so nice

I was looking for classes for adults that was not part of a school or a university because I wanted something more personal and I wanted to be surrounded by others who wanted to learn Spanish. The classes were always small and organized. I walked away from every class having learned something! Deidre always had a plan for the class. Every student had ample opportunities to speak and listen and she would give feedback and corrections. I started with Live the Language in 2018 and I am happy to say that the motivation and care that Deidre gave to me has helped guide me on my road to Spanish fluency. Experiencia fantástica: Live The Language is a friendly, stress-free, warm learning environment. After just a few months I was able to start having conversations with my Spanish speaking family. Lessons are personalized based on what is relevant to you. You set the pace and you choose what vocab you focus on, while Deidre gives you the grammar and fundamentals to use it. She genuinely cares about her students and wants you to get the most out of it. She’s very generous with her time (and her garden:)). Deidre organizes many opportunities to learn and practice outside of the weekly classes. (Happy hours at a Mexican restaurant to practice ordering. Zoom meetings where she pairs you with students from other classes at the same skill level to practice conversation. And occasionally a holiday party with, like a million delicious homemade salsas, margaritas, and homemade chicken mole.) And she is constantly brainstorming more ways to help you outside of regular class hours. Aside from her worksheets and Quizlet, Deidre provides a long list of resources for practicing and studying, like podcasts, websites, games, books, tv shows, magazines, etc. She is also knowledgeable about cultural traditions and language differences amongst Spanish speaking countries, how things are said or pronounced differently. I got more than I expected and I’m excited to continue courses with Deidre at Live The Language!

Experiencia fantástica: Live the language is an amazing class!!! I took classes with maestra Kateri and she was so kind and helpful, I looked forward to classes every week. The classes also were so accommodating for folks that have really demanding jobs and were super flexible if I had to miss a class. They also do a lot of happy hours so you can practice in person and it was amazing. I really loved everyone taking these classes and I feel I learned a lot and can speak and understand a lot of Spanish. I would recommend Live the Language to everyone. They have in person classes and remote and if you take a remote class there are multiple opportunities to meet in person and practice your Spanish . Great classes!

Deidre has a really excellent program that focuses on the initial hurdles that people face learning a new language and scales from the basics to learning how to converse in everyday idioms. Weekly, in person or Zoom courses have a small group setting, which allows each student to practice speaking. The lessons and other course materials are very thorough and effective. Deidra is a fantastic and patient instructor. She also provides a multitude of suggestions for additional resources to further supplement the course materials. Learning a new language can be intimidating, but Deidra makes her students feel comfortable all along the way. You will not be disappointed.

I have never taken a Spanish class in my life, and I am able to chit chat with my coworkers now after attending LTL. Diedre is an amazing host and teacher! Her husband, mother, and son are also great to meet if you get the chance. It’s worth it because it’s an investment in yourself. Plus it’s fun! Hanging out with your classmates each week and learning new things. It makes you sad when if finally is over. Like a neat piece of your life you look forward to each week is now gone. Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to improve their Spanish! I'm enrolled in my second class now and feel that I have made significant progress. The small class sizes are ideal and I appreciate the emphasis on conversation. While we cover rules and grammar, we also learn everyday idioms and how to really engage in conversations. One of my favorite things is that Deidre organizes happy hours for her students of various levels to come together and practice speaking in a fun, relaxed setting. What’s great about this class is that you get out of it what you put into it; so if you're motivated, you'll see real progress. As someone balancing a full-time job, I appreciate how manageable it is.

Experiencia fantástica: I finished the beginner I&II lessons a couple months ago and I’m amazed how comfortable I am speaking Spanish and how much I’ve learned. Deidre is an amazing teacher. I’m naturally shy when trying things I can’t do well, but she made it easy. Her class time is remarkably effective. She has so many great ideas for practicing that I look forward to making time for it and I’m able to fit practice into my life in many ways. I’m about to move on to the intermediate level, and I hope I can take advanced on repeat. If you want to speak Spanish, you’re ready for homework and to swap some of your reading and tv for a Spanish version, then Live the Language is perfect for you.

The school’s owner, Deidre, is a native Spanish speaker and highly qualified Spanish teacher. Her kindness and patience set students at ease so they can truly enjoy learning Spanish. There are virtual and in-person (at her lovely home) classes, so students can choose a convenient learning environment and schedule. Classes are small to promote learning through interactive student dialogue as Deidre corrects mistakes and explains corrections in real time. This technique is much more exciting and productive than lectures and language labs. The school has its own effective class curriculum and offers a number of adjunct learning aids, like videos and on-line quizzes, to reinforce class learning. Additionally, the school sponsors social events, like group dining at Mexican restaurants, so students can practice their Spanish skills in real-life settings. I recently completed the school’s beginner class, and I’ll be back for more advanced instruction after I return from a two-month vacation in Mexico where I plan to use and improve my new Spanish language skills.

The environment is warm and welcoming for learners at every level so you can feel comfortable asking questions and most important practicing. 12 years of public school Spanish can't shake a stick at Live The Language.

Deidre is a natural teacher, and she brings to her instruction a wonderful mix of encouragement, enthusiasm, patience, and rigor. She is tireless in her efforts to bring both the Spanish language and the rich culture of Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries alive for all of her students. I enrolled in my first class to dust off my decades-old high school Spanish and become a more effective volunteer with an organization that helps Spanish-speaking clients. Under Diedre’s guidance, I am moving steadily toward those goals. But what I found was so much more: the sheer enjoyment of learning to think and express oneself in another language and the fun and excitement of encountering another culture. Experiencia fantástica: I just finished taking the 20-week Beginner Spanish class and I'm excited by how much I'm learning. I went from no formal Spanish ever (just a few words picked up over time from living in Texas and having children in Spanish immersion preschool) to having a great foundation in understanding the language and getting more confident in speaking. I love the layout of the classes as Deidre gives lots of opportunities to practice speaking conversationally while also providing clear, well-structured lessons. This is a class experience unlike anything I have ever had before because the classes are so small and personalized. Before taking a class with Live the Language I had been trying to learn for a little over a year on Duolingo and Babbel and felt really stuck or like I was barely scratching the surface. I can say it is 100% worth the investment to take this class. In 20 weeks I learned leaps and bounds more than I did on my own with language learning apps in a year. They are a nice supplement but truly could not compare with Deidre's beginner Spanish class. I will definitely be enrolling in the Intermediate and Advanced classes. Here are some things I particularly loved about class with Deidre: -Online and In-person class options -Small class size makes learning a new language a less intimidating, more personal and thus more memorable experience -We had our classes recorded through Zoom so we could re-listen as many times as we wanted -LOTS of resources! You will have every opportunity to fill your free-time with quality Spanish-learning resources -Class structure included lessons, open dialogue, games, and plenty of opportunity for questions -Deidre is an ethereal angel of a human being and learning from her is a delight

Experiencia fantástica: My partner and I just completed our Beginner II course with Live the Language and we could not recommend it enough. This class exceeded all of our expectations. Firstly, we were looking for a class that had in person teaching and opportunities to use our language skills in the real world. This is a surprisingly difficult thing to find after covid. The teacher, Deidre Aragon, not only invites you into her home for the classes, but also arranges monthly happy hours and brunches with her current and former students at a local restaurant. Towards the end of our class, we also got to visit the Blanton museum and have a tour of Mayan art guided in Spanish by one of her students who has been studying for 8 years. It was really excellent. Besides the extracurriculars, the syllabus of the class is also very thoughtfully put together. It is designed not just to help you memorize and practice phrases (though there is plenty of that), but also to understand how the Spanish language is constructed. That has improved my language comprehension, especially when it comes to listening to others speak. On top of all of this, Deidre is an excellent teacher. She is always patient and kind, no matter how often you repeat the same mistakes. Her mastery of Spanish and teaching allows her to take a tangent to explain a particular phrase or grammatical rule while staying on track in a given lesson. Her openness and excitement in sharing her language, culture, and heritage makes the classes fresh, interesting, and exciting. Over halloween, for instance, she walked us through her ofrenda and talked to us about the family members commemorated in it. It was really special. This is an excellent way to learn Spanish, and I could not recommend it highly enough.

Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoyed the accelerated beginner's class. I started after the sessions had began, and even starting a bit behind, I gained a lot from this class. I started learning Spanish years ago but never really went beyond a beginner level. Throughout the course, I see myself improving, and I found the class very valuable. I plan on continuing to the Intermediate level. Deidre is also extremely knowledgable and an excellent instructor. I also really love her home (where in person classes are held) and how she always has tea prepared for class. She's super encouraging and patient with you while you learn.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful way to learn a language! I started Spanish classes during covid since classes were offered via Zoom, I did beginner and intermediate 1 in a year. It's about 5 hours a week (2 hour class then homework) and doing homework is essential. You have to be very organized with all the handouts (I use a physical binder) because a lot of the information provided every week via email is repetitive. There's lessons, homework, answer keys, and more. I recently started intermediate 2. I'd compared it to two other programs and the hourly rate came out around the same price/ hr. Class sizes are 4-6 students which is perfect. Lo recomiendo!

Experiencia fantástica: I recently finished the Accelerated Beginner class with Deidre, and I’m about to start the Intermediate class! Before Live the Language, I was trying to learn Spanish with online tools and apps for several years. This in-person, discussion-centered experience has helped me make so much more progress. Deidre’s lessons are comprehensive, and she explain rules like when to use ser vs. estar or por vs. para very clearly. Deidre is also quick to correct pronunciation and help students sound out words until they get it right, which is an invaluable piece of feedback I could never get from Duolingo, etc. I also love Deidre’s home and the hibiscus tea she makes for her students every lesson! Overall, it’s a great experience!

These are good things! The meetings on Zoom are well-organized and the class sizes are small -- thus, plenty of time to practice speaking. There are weekly assignments, as well as lots of suggestions for supplemental learning. All fantastic and I can feel improvement in Spanish, my third language. I plan to continue to take classes with Deidre as long as possible.

English is my 3rd language and I was so happy to have found a Spanish teacher who speaks multiple languages, including French to help me understand commonalities. I have been taking class since August 2022 and just graduated to intermediate level. I can already see a huge progress and confidence. Not only Deidre is great, but her home is incredible. From the minute you step in, you are in a Spanish immersion including the Jamaica drink and different variety of teas and goodies she offers during class. The class materials/homework Deidre prepared are helpful and comprehensive (it’s also important that you do the homework and committed to practice). The lessons and homework are fairly repetitive and it really helps with understanding. -- Just finished my first 20 week session and I'm very pleased with my progress so far. Live the Language Spanish classes are small so everyone gets a chance to speak and practice. Also, Deidre provides a lot of resources to complement the homework and lessons.

I have struggled with learning how to speak Spanish in the past and Live the Language has been a blessing in helping me to actually do so. The lessons are so comprehensive and teach in a way that feels natural to conversation, so I've been able to retain the langue so much better than before. Classes flow through the lessons so that I am able to digest them during class time and then practice them throughout the week with our assignments. I am grateful to have a rather small class of three and we have all been able to speak together and learn so much during our class time. Overall It is truly a wonderful program and a great natural way to learn Spanish.

Live the Language has been exactly what I needed! I love their small group conversational classes, and the teachers are absolutely fabulous! Since I started at Live the Language, my Spanish has improved dramatically and I finally feel like I'm on the road to fluency.

Experiencia fantástica: I've taken beginner classes and will be moving to intermediate with Live The Language. Nothing but good things to say about Deidre, Live The Language and the quality teaching. She is a truly special teacher who you can tell loves language and knows so much about it's history (and film!). She really makes for a joyful experience. Classes right now are over Zoom which is perfect with Covid. I took a class previously with Deirde in person, pre covid, and I think the zooms today are just as good (and so much easier on working parents!) Class sizes are small (5‐6) so you get to know your classmates and lots of opportunity to practice speaking. The class is structured to be lots of talking that is guided by Deidre and the written lessons. You do your reading and written work as homework every week on your own. One bonus is that she also gives you lots of fun recommendations of things to try in your spare time: games with music videos, other lessons to watch on youtube, things to listen to in your car if you're stuck in traffic.

Experiencia fantástica: I am so grateful to Deidre and her amazing Live the Language Spanish classes. It has been a dream of mine to speak Spanish for as long as I can remember. I’ve tried apps and other classes, but it’s the format of classes at Live the Language that have made all the difference. Classes are small (usually around six), conveniently on Zoom, and designed to engage all the students in friendly conversation. Deidre is kind, funny, and very generous when making corrections regarding grammar and pronunciation. It’s a lot of homework (although manageable), and your brain will hurt after class, but you WILL LEARN and very much enjoy the process. I absolutely recommend Live the Language if you are ready to learn to speak Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: I love Live the Language! Classes are capped at six students, so it's really personal. We spend a portion of each class just asking and discussing questions that are unknown to us before the start of class, so you get tons of time to practice talking on the fly. Plus, Deidre tailors the discussions to things she's learned about us personally, for instance asking how our dogs are, or whether a new job is interesting. Between classes, the written lessons introduce subjects at the perfect pace, and with explanations that only a native speaker or linguist can provide. Often, we learn how a word or phrase is different between different Spanish-speaking countries. This is something subtle that apps on your phone just can't do. Additional exercises are plentiful and well tuned to the week's subject. I've already recommended Live the Language to lots of people. It's smart, affordable, and personal. The format and instructor's attitude are perfect for folks with a job. Oh, and make sure to ask for a "guest lecture" from Deidre's mom, Kateri -- she's not afraid to tell you "how they actually say that."

Experiencia fantástica: Live the Language is hands down the best place to learn a second or third language if you are contemplating doing so. Deidre's class is fun and interactive with a large focus on conversational Spanish with intimate and personal sized classes. I went from a beginner's ability of understanding and speaking Spanish to a now intermediate ability forming sentences, recognizing and understanding the past, subjunctive, and imperfect tenses all within two semesters with Live the Language. The reason I chose to begin taking Spanish lessons was because most of my family is bilingual and fluent in Spanish from speaking and spending time with my grandma when we were kids. Within one semester of classes with Deidre and Live the Language, my grandma, family, and friends have all noticed a significant improvement in my verbal comprehension as well as my construction of sentences. I was able to apply what I had learned in this short time on a recent trip to Mexico and I cannot begin to describe how much it helped me when meeting new people, navigating airports and cities including asking for directions, as well as normal day-to-day conversation. In the past couple years I decided that I wanted to commit to learning Spanish, with a goal of being able to have meaningful conversations with native speakers. I didn’t feel like I was making much progress using apps like Duolingo and other online resources. I started taking classes with Deidre in November 2019 and I loved it from the beginning. The classes are small and very conversational, and Deidre is warm, patient, and excellent at explaining grammatical concepts. Deidre’s classes are miles better than any Spanish class I’ve ever taken and I’m amazed at how much I’ve improved in 10 months. My first set of classes was in person, and I’ve been taking online classes since March. The online classes have been just as lively as the in person ones, with the added bonus that you can now attend classes while you’re out of town, and Deidre uses the chat box so you have quick visual feedback on new vocabulary. I highly recommend LTL to anyone who wants to learn Spanish. I’ve just started my third session of classes and it is truly one of the highlights of my week.

Her focus is on conversational Spanish and she will have even the most novice student forming full sentences in no time at all. I just completed a 20-week course for Beginners and it was worth every penny and all the effort I put in. Knowing how to speak, listen to, and read Spanish is such a door opener and Deidre's positive, kind approach to teaching the language makes it possible to learn at a steady but advanced pace. Her immersive classes will keep you on your toes in the best of ways. I plan to return to Live the Language for more coursework in 2021 because I can see my future self speaking freely with friends in Mexico. This will take more dedication and practice from me, and more guidance from someone who genuinely loves teaching and helping her students share in the culture.

If your goal is Spanish fluency, with a comprehensive knowledge of grammar and an understanding of language use within Spanish speaking cultures, THIS is your place! That was my goal when I started taking classes with Deidre in February 2020; and I'm so thankful when I say, I am actually able to use my Spanish in my work setting! It's amazing. I have moved from a complete novice to more of an intermediate speaker in a relatively short amount of time! I can say that--without a doubt--this was the right choice! Deidre has been so encouraging, supremely knowledgeable, patient and helpful all along the way. We started out meeting in person in January, and had to transition in the middle due to Covid. Moving to Zoom instruction was seamless, and frankly, I'm not sure how she managed it so quickly. Deidre made sure that we had the same quality and attention as the in person classes. It has been so wonderful that I didn't hesitate to sign up for the next round. This is the first time since college that I attempted a modern language, and I am astonished how far I've come. Deidre is a patient, affirmative, and engaging teacher who loves sharing Spanish with her students. Small class size allows a lot of time speaking time to each person. As with any language, you have to make the time to study between lessons in order to get the most out of class time.

Her classes are small which helps a lot for asking questions, and she gives you a lot of instructions + work to do at home. These classes have been a huge help in organizing time to engage in Spanish and have provided a good environment to practice speaking the language as well with the other classmates. Also, the progress in this class helped me pass a CLEP exam to give me 8 college credit hours! The classes at Live the Language truly give you what you need in order to learn Spanish, instead of just learning half way or a few words. There is a needed structure in the courses here and a lot of assistance to learn at your own speed. I recommend!

I will say that since it is not a typical classroom/ test taking setting, it takes some self motivation to complete the homework and keep up with the lesson plans. I do have to work hard on my own but the progress has no struggle at all! Each class was fun, interesting and time flies! In months, I went from having virtually zero Spanish to being able to have conversations. It felt so empowering to vacation in Spain and converse easily with the local people. My son took the immersive summer camp several times, and really loved it. The language he learned there really helped him once he started Spanish in middle school. Cannot recommend this teacher highly enough. The best!

I've gone from speaking mediocre Spanish to near fluency in the time I've studied with LTL. The weekly happy hour is a good way to practice in a casual context and Deidre provides really thorough notes, practice questions, "cheat sheets" and more to ensure you don't forget what you've learned. They teach in a play/interactive environment, so the kids get to play games, do yoga, cook and eat meals while learning and practicing Spanish. My girls had a great time, and have been singing the alphabet song they learned all summer. The instructors are great with kids and the camps are a great value.

I wanted a refresher on grammatical rules & vocabulary, and the opportunity to practice complex dialogue. The lessons are well organized and thorough, and I can feel my language skills improving with each class. There are several students who have made their way from the beginning classes to the advanced class and we converse in Spanish throughout the class. I am very pleased to have found this class and Deidre!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been sending my kids to this camp and they absolutely loved it! Deidre and her husband are the nicest people, courteous, polite, and always smiling. Live the Language not only provides the best environment for the kids to learn and practice Spanish but also offers them an opportunity to practice yoga, as well as taste good food! My older son who is 10 now has been going to this camp for the last three years and I can tell that it has helped with his language study greatly and as a result he has gained confidence at school. Camp tuition is very reasonable if you consider the long hours and the breakfast and lunch they provide. I don’t need to pack lunch or snack when I send them to this camp, which is the best part I like about this camp LOL! Definitely the best camp! Strongly recommend!

She loves the variety that is offered each day,-- singing, conversation, yoga, cooking, movies-- in a structured way that makes learning fun. They provide home cooked hot meals during the day which is so much appreciated (no need to pack a bag lunch). The camp is a great value when you consider all that they provide. I highly recommend their camp and hope one day to take some adult classes myself.

Although they receive Spanish language instruction at school, Deidre and her team have given them a culturally immersive experience. Both boys love the food that they help prepare and we like to create the same dishes at home following “Chef’s” recipes (they never come out as good, according to them). Even though my boys are “rough and tumble” they enjoy the morning yoga sessions and learning new card games in Spanish. We have very much enjoyed the Live the Language Camp experience and our children’s Spanish teachers have also been impressed with their growth in the language. Thank you Deidre and Marshall!

If your child is not very studious and is slower to learn a language, they are not tolerant or understanding and can make parents feel like something is wrong with their children. Also, their prices are way too high for the lack of quality in the teaching.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been interested in learning to speak Spanish for many years, but wasn't able to give it the attention it needed to stick until I retired. I tried Rosetta Stone, online programs, and even a different group class here in Austin. Deidre is so warm and accepting, she has really helped me feel comfortable with the hardest part of learning a new language- speaking. The class is never larger than 5, and we sit at the same table together, so we get tons of time to talk. We practice what we are learning by talking together and answering the questions Deidre has typed up personally for our individual class. She is really smart and funny and we laugh a lot- I look forward to my class! The curriculum is unique to Live the Language and Deidre knows it so well that she can answer any question we have and tell us what lesson to refer back to in order to get more information. She's from Mexico and enjoys talking to us about the history of the country. I like listening to her much better than watching movies because she will stop to explain in English if we don't understand exactly what she is saying. I have found the place I will stay to see this goal through. I am sure that after several years with Live the Language I will be speaking with confidence- no more perfectionist paralysis! I highly recommend this program and my beautiful teacher!

Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo were there, as were many of the leading actors, thinkers and politicians of Mexico City. For me, the classes are a string of treasures, and I look forward to continuing in this rare opportunity in the fall.

Learning a language is not easy, even more so as an adult with a full-time job. Deidre's lesson plans are really well thought out and each weeks builds on the other. The electronic study aids, including the quizlets she designed which accompany each lesson were also a big plus. Highly recommend.

Deirdre is a dedicated teacher who is excellent at explaining both basic (grammatical) and subtle aspects of the language. By dedicating so much time to oral practice, this class has reinforced the Spanish concepts that I had previously learned and has greatly improved my ability to communicate.

Experiencia fantástica: Taking conversational Spanish through Live the Language was a wonderful way to re-educate myself on the basics of Spanish as well as to put it into practice. I took many Spanish classes as a child, so the familiarity of the language was helpful going into this class, but you can be an absolute beginner and still walk away from the class with a firm grasp of the fundamentals as well as the ability to have basic conversations with others. A lot of information is covered in each class, but the instructor, Deidre Aragon, makes it fun and interactive! The materials are also a great reference tool going forward. I highly recommend this class!
